- **_DUTIES _**
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Campus Elder is committed to excellence in student support and care and will also provide guidance
- to staff and faculty at UCN on matters relating to Indigenous traditions and cultures. The Campus Elder will have the ability to teach traditions
- and values based on UCN’s Mission and Vision statement that embraces the seven sacred teachings. The Campus Elder is recognized and
- accepted by the community for their wisdom; knowledge of Indigenous traditions; community life and values; and is dedicated to sharing their
- knowledge and life experiences and will participate and/or assist in cultural and traditional ceremonies. They may also assist in the
- development of culturally relevant programs, curriculum and workshops as requested. They will work closely with staff within the Office of
- the Dean of Students.
- **_REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS _**:

- Relevant combination of education and experience related to supporting students- Experience delivering traditional teachings
- Knowledge of Indigenous history, Indigenous cultural ceremonies with emphasis on culturally appropriate protocols
- Effective cross cultural communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to understand and deal with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern Manitoba
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
- Commitment to life-long learning

**_ASSETS _**:

- Ability to speak an Indigenous language- Bachelor of Social Work or Counselling.
