Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate and Building Services, the Manager of Building Services position is a critical role with accountability for the management and leadership of maintenance activities across our retirement and long-term care homes.

**As part of our team, your role as a Manager of Building Services contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways**:

- Oversee and support the maintenance function across assigned long-term care and retirement homes.
- Ensures compliance for all maintenance related activities with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements.
- Perform regular audits and provide recommendations to address any identified gaps.
- In collaboration with other internal stakeholders, provide support in developing annual capital and maintenance budgets for assigned homes.
- Assist assigned homes with the recruitment and onboarding of new maintenance and environmental services employees, as required.
- Provide support to assigned homes with large capital projects, building repairs and purchasing of large equipment.
- Consult and support with redevelopment projects and new build construction projects.
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs are implemented and maintained.
- Provide education to maintenance employees, as required.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Must have a minimum of three-five years of experience working in a Maintenance capacity, preferably in the long-term care and retirement home sectors.
- Knowledge of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Building Code, Fire Code and other pertinent legislation which influences the general safety and maintenance aspects of the operation.
- Must have a minimum of two years’ demonstrated experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and prevailing best practices related to maintenance.
- Strong relationship building abilities and organizing skills with the ability to lead and influence others.
- Ability to read and interrupt equipment manuals, architectural, mechanical or electrical drawings.
- Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computerized documentation systems.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
- Experience with redevelopment in the long-term care sector is considered an asset.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
- Have a passion to work with the senior population.
