BCIT’s **School of Construction and the Environment** is seeking a **regular, full-time (1.0 **FTE**) Faculty, Ecological Restoration** to join the Renewable Resources department to teach and supervise thesis work in the Master of Science Ecological Restoration.- BCIT’s **Master of Science (MSc) **in **Ecological Restoration **is a North America leader in ecological restoration education. The program provides graduates with a world-class knowledge in the science, and applied and technical skills needed to restore a broad range of degraded ecosystems. The program has been designed to advance the science and practice of ecological restoration. Students work with our Faculty and industry partners on a wide range of applied restoration projects, thereby gaining experience in addressing many current environmental challenges. Graduates have an excellent track record of securing positions with consulting companies, non-profit organizations, as well as all levels of government including First Nations.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Minimum Qualifications**:

- PhD in aquatic ecology, applied freshwater ecology, stream ecology.
- Minimum of five years of experience in applied aquatic ecology and research.
- Demonstrated ability to do research in the field of freshwater restoration.
- Strong peer-review publication lists related to freshwater ecology and restoration.
- Demonstrated statistics competencies abilities to teach research methods and statistics related to natural resource management at the Master level.
- Knowledge and experience working in freshwater ecosystems in BC and internationally.
- Ability to design and conduct research in freshwater ecology and restoration.
- Excellent communication (including technical writing), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, which are needed to effectively manage the dynamic conditions and logistics associated with our applied programs.
- Ability to combine multiple sources of knowledge in a teaching context, particularly with engaging relevant Indigenous knowledge-holders and environmental stewards.
- Recent experience and knowledge of industry standard safety protocols. Strong experience with curriculum development at the graduate level. **Preferred Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the post-secondary and graduate level in both classroom and field settings.
- Knowledge of and experience with the principles of aquatic ecological restoration and research.
- A demonstrated ability to publish research and present knowledge at ecological restoration related event.
- An ability to attract research funding.
- Professional designation as a Registered Professional Biologist an asset.
- Experience designing and implementing management treatments focused on topics such as mitigating soil erosion or restoring hydrological conditions.
- Class 4 driver’s license

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $63,150 - $110,238 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
- Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.Position Details
