**Job Title**:Women’s Counsellor (Temporary two-month position)

**Reports to**:Director of Direct Services and Clinical Practice

**Working Conditions**:The position is part-time (32 hours/week). Work is accomplished in person at an unpublished location in Vancouver, BC.

**Organizational Overview**

Established in 1979, BWSS - Battered Women’s Support Services takes action to end gender-based violence through community-based interventions, support services, legal and systemic advocacy, education and training, violence prevention and research and policy.

**Job Highlight**

Utilize your decolonial, intersectional feminist, and anti-oppression perspectives to provide trauma-informed counselling for girls, women, and femmes coping with the impacts of violence and abuse through individual and group counselling sessions while collaborating with an incredible interdisciplinary team of counsellors.

**Job Summary**

As a Women's Counselor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the healing and freedom from violence of all girls, women, femmes, and transfeminine survivors through individual and group counselling sessions.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct several counselling sessions daily, utilizing your strong knowledge and skills to assist girls, women, and femmes dealing with complex trauma.
- Conduct assessments and determine program suitability.
- Develop and implement counselling plans and goals necessary to meet survivors' needs. Monitor and evaluate progress and adjust goals accordingly for each individual counselling file.
- Engage in regular individual and group clinical supervision sessions with your supervisor.
- Maintain consistent file management, including the maintenance of information, forms related to privacy and confidentiality, progress notes, and other items related to file management.
- Ensure accurate and timely records of activities, file notes, and services, logging events and progress.
- Provide crisis intervention as required.
- Collaborate with other BWSS programs and service when necessary to provide a holistic support plan.
- Conduct referrals and/or advocate with other community service providers as necessary.
- Participate in staff meetings, job evaluations, and other Agency-related forms of supervision and participation as required.
- Maintain statistics and record-keeping that adhere to the Provincial Government Stopping the Violence Counselling contract, in compliance with all legal and contractual obligations undertaken by the Society.
- Participate in BWSS resource development activities as defined by the Resource Development Committee, Manager of Development, and/or Executive Director.
- Perform other tasks as required by your supervisor.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of two years of recent supervised adult survivor counselling experience.
- Analysis, knowledge, and training in trauma-informed counselling.
- Knowledge of the impacts of structural inequalities that oppress girls, women, and femmes.
- Demonstrated understanding of complex trauma presentations, expertise, and skills necessary to assist girls, women, and femmes dealing with the long-lasting effects of trauma.
- Demonstrated experience in women's organizations and nonprofit society environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, organizational abilities, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate files and statistics.
- Demonstrated capacity to prioritize workload with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Eagerness and creativity to create and co-facilitate specialized counselling groups, along with demonstrated group facilitation skills.
- Experience supervising practicum students.
- Satisfactory criminal record checks.
- The ability to speak another language is an asset.

**Classification**
- Part-time temporary two-month position with the possibility of an extension.
- Schedule: Wednesday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.
- Hourly rate: $33.83.
- This position requires union membership.
