**As A Collections Contact Officer, you will**:
Initiate contact with taxpayers, their representatives, and third parties to gather information and respond to inquiries or complaints related to collecting outstanding debts or resolving compliance issues.

Verify or research taxpayer information and leads from inside the office by using internal and external sources and by making requests for fieldwork such as out of office interviews with taxpayer, attending insolvency proceedings, and other events.

Initiate and follow through with all legal actions until completion in accordance with Agency policies and procedures to collect or encumber assets to safeguard the Agency’s interests.

The pool established from this staffing process may be used to staff similar positions.

**Please note**:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public health recommendations and restrictions are in place across Canada and may change as circumstances evolve. You may be required to temporarily work remotely (e.g. from home). Further information will be provided if you are selected for the position.

Job offers to those who qualify may be made **at any time **during the validity period of the pool. Business needs are such that we may need to hire between 20-40 Collections Contact Officers; however, this number may increase or decrease depending upon business requirements.

**Who can apply?**

Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens and permanent residents in that order.

Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.

**Language Requirements**
- Many positions are English Essential
- Some positions are Bilingual Imperative

**Education**

Successful completion of a secondary school diploma (High School Diploma) or CRA approved alternatives*.
- CRA approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma include:

- a satisfactory score on the CRA-approved test (General Intelligence Test - GIT 320 - Pass Mark 80); or
- an acceptable** **combination of education, training, or work experience.

A certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited post-secondary institution**.

**Preference may be given to those with a university degree.

**Experience**

**Option 1**:

- Recent and significant experience in collecting outstanding debt: Persons who have worked in an environment collecting unpaid balances owing from individuals or businesses such as loans, credit card debts, mortgages, and accounts receivable.

- Recent and significant experience in the Credit industry: Persons who have experience in granting credit to individuals or businesses.

**OR**

- Recent and significant experience in working with clients in a Call Centre, Office, or Customer Service environment.
