The Fund Development Assistant supports the Fund Development/Communications Manager and the Fundraising Committees to achieve the fundraising objectives of the Society along with meaningful stewardship of relationships with donors, sponsors, prospects, and community organizations. This position is responsible for supporting and assisting in the development of an Annual Fundraising Plan and Communications Plan.

**Qualification**:

- Completed post-secondary education in fundraising or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the field of fundraising and communications.
- Ability to work independently and with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Flexibility to represent the Society at events, some of which occur outside of regular work hours.
- Donor centered attitude and enthusiasm for fund development and stewardship.
- Creative, self-starting, highly organized and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, public relations and networking skills.
- Enjoys working in a fast paced and collaborative team environment.
- Time management skills and working effectively to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with Raiser’s Edge database is an asset.
- Driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check screening required.

**Specific Job Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the development of programs to achieve fund raising targets, including annual giving, direct mail campaigns and the cultivation and retention of individual, monthly, event related and online donors.
- Supports in the development and maintenance of a major gifts’ program.
- Assists with regular thank you communications with donors and sponsors, both verbal and written.
- Supports signature events such as Walk for Alzheimer’s, Soup’s On, and Golf Tournament; develop new special events as appropriate.
- Liaise with funeral homes regarding memorial donations.
- Assists with preparing content for e-newsletters, communications, and direct mail appeals.
- Provides regular updates to the website.
- Works collaboratively to support, maintain, and grow the Society’s presence through social media marketing including Facebook, e-blasts, Instagram, Twitter, and other strategically relevant online vehicles.
- Prepares promotional materials in relation to events e.g., media releases, e
- blasts; marketing materials, photo opportunities, brochures, and posters; nurtures relationship with media.
- Supports third party events in accordance with the Society’s policies.
- In collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator coordinates and supervises event volunteers.
- Ensures event information and associated donor/sponsorship information is accurately entered into Raiser’s Edge.
- As necessary, provide back up support for processing donations, thank you letters, and tax receipts.
- Always represent the Alzheimer Society Huron Perth in a professional manner, treating all internal and external clients with the respect and dignity they deserve.
- Always act in the best interests of the Society.

**Organizational Overview**:
The Alzheimer Society Huron Perth actively supports families and individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. We advocate for and provide support services, education, and funding for research for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

**Location**:

- Regular work schedule with flexibility divided between Huron and Perth Counties.
- Huron (Clinton) and Perth (Stratford).
- Travel within Huron and Perth Counties.
