The Clinical Research Assistant will work in collaboration with another CRA to help run the TOH Division of Infectious Diseases’ HIV Prevention and Care Program funded by the Ontario AIDS Bureau. This program is led by Dr. MacPherson, a specialist in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Ottawa Hospital, a clinician-scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Dept of Medicine and the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. The focus of this position is quality improvement to ensure our program meets current needs both effectively and efficiently.

The Clinical Research Assistant will advance our goals with a focus on three specific areas:

- Gay Men’s Health Website (HUGO): The research assistant with maintain, update, and further develop the website. For example, to ensure healthcare providers have easy on-line access to information about gay men's health, the research assistant will further develop a separate hub for healthcare providers containing information on men's health viewed through a gay lens and on health issues specific to gay men. With input and supervision, the research assistant will write content for this hub providing quick reference to such topics as HIV risk reduction strategies including PrEP and PEP, STI testing and treatment guidelines, information on the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, anal cancer screening, and mental health including screening tools and alcohol and drug use resources. The research assistant will also track and promote website use.
- Clinical Practice Guide on Gay Men’s Health: We recognize that gaps in healthcare occur when there are disparities between knowledge and day-to-day clinical practice. The research assistant will work with other healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, trainees, and community members to complete a literature review and assist in writing an evidence-based clinical guide on gay men’s health for primary care providers.
- Quality Improvement and Needs Assessments: To inform and improve our program, the research assistant will carry out several QI and needs assessment studies. These will include an analysis of current PrEP use in Ottawa, and an analysis of the HIV PEP cascade at TOH. Both studies are intended to identify gaps in care and ensure efficient and effective use of resources. The research assistant will also undertake an analysis of a large survey of gay men in Ontario with the goal to identify gaps in the delivery of physical, mental, and sexual healthcare.

Responsibilities of the incumbent include:

- Ensure all program deliverables are met.
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Collect and analyze research findings in varying formats.
- Conduct statistical analyses.
- Attend project meetings.
- Draft documents and provide timely subsequent revisions.
- Prepare research articles, reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
- Maintain, update, and further develop our gay men’s health website, HUGO.
- Assist in the organization of our annual KTE event and biannual CME event.
- Assist in submission of all reports to the AIDS Bureau through OCHART
- Assist with the annual program update submitted for approval each year to the AIDS Bureau.
- Support further initiatives as they arise.

**Basic Requirements (Education/Experience)**:

- A secondary diploma.
- Knowledge of and experience working with SPSS.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and superb writing skills)
- Flexible and cooperative spirit with a strong commitment to team efforts.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
- Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and accept responsibility.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills required to coordinate multiple activities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills required to deal with unexpected situations or issues.
- Ability to work well under stress with mínimal supervision.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- A bachelor’s degree or a professional designation.
- Evidence of training certification in Tri-Council Policy Statement -2 (TCPS-2) and the International Council on Harmonization - Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP)

**Contract Details**:
This is a 1-year full-time contract with the possibility of renewal.

**Salary**: Min: $25.677 - Max: $30.248
