Position Description
The Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine. Our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. - Our career path definitions specify typical ranges of time allotted to clinical work, teaching (clinical and didactic), research and administration.
Clinical responsibilities will include directing the Division of Cardiology’s activities in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant; expanding programs for heart transplantation and mechanical assist devices; increasing innovation in heart failure patient care, research, clinical trials, and advanced technology; and leading efforts to integrate mobile technologies for greater heart failure patient engagement and health management. Additional expectations will be to oversee the use of standardized evidence-based medicine protocols and quality metrics to reduce avoidable readmissions, enhance the patient experience, and improve clinical outcomes.

Qualifications and Education Requirements- Hold an MD degree and must have completed subspecialty training in Cardiology;- Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certified by the Collège des médecins du Québec;- Have advanced heart failure, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support fellowship training, as well as multi-organ transplantation fellowship training;- Have completed general critical care fellowship training with full critical care competence;- Have cardiac surgical intensive care unit with mechanical circulatory support experience with ECMO/Impella/Tandem Heart support and weaning, as well as cardiac care intensive care unit experience;- Have experience as a Director of a Cardiogenic Shock Team;- Have endomyocardial biopsy experience;- Have experience in advanced heart failure hospital management and building a rapid referral and follow-up pathway (CHF rapid follow-up clinic post discharge);- Have experience as a principal investigator for international heart failure trials;-
