CLS Support Officer

**What is the opportunity?**

Reporting to the Manager - Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS) Team Nightshift. This position provides key business-related knowledge and support to critical Payments Operations. This is to support Sanction Scanning function during Nightshift and the upcoming Real Time Rail (RTR) process. Participates in unison with team members to support other Nightshift operation like Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS) Help Desk functions and queues associated to the timely release of Time Sensitive Payments. Provides support to clients, service partners, correspondent banks and RBFG personnel as it relates to processing of payments received via all communication channels i.e. SWIFT, TELEX, RAFT$, EFT/RBC Express, LVTS, RFT and Intellitracs.

This position will be the Night Shift: 11pm - 7am

**What will you do?**
- Monitors SLA Sanctions queues and actions items as required, escalating where necessary
- Responsible for RTR monitoring process upon implementation
- Support for Wire Payment and CLS processing, by providing significant level of service and support to an international/domestic client base of Strategic/Relationship/Core/Global Financial Institutions Banks by consistently meeting Service Delivery Standards, within established Service Level Agreement.
- Ability to independently resolve high risk/high impact situations ensuring business decisions including critical/contingency situations are made on behalf of Royal Bank Financial Group and escalate to appropriate parties
- Ensures payments are processed in accordance with CPA, LVTS, SWIFT and Banking Arrangement guidelines to minimize interest claims and potential losses to the Bank
- Mitigates Operational/Transactional risk through proactive measures i.e. being aware of various cut-off times, accurate processing and verification of payments
- Participates in the execution of regular Business Continuity testing [i.e. LYNX, DRP, SWIFT, etc] with Bank of Canada, CLS Bank and the Canadian Payments Association as required.
- Provide backup and be able to perform the duties of Payments Exception [PEXC] or CLS officer during Nightshift as the need arises

**Must have**:

- Risk Management knowledge and comprehension
- Good knowledge of SWIFT wire payments procedures
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in various systems environments
- Ability to complete tasks independently
- Problem Solving/Analytical Thinking
- Knowledge of business practices and processes
- Willingness to learn new skills

**Nice-to-have**:

- 1 to 2 years of Banking experience
- Four-year Diploma/post-secondary
- Accounting background is an advantage
