**POSITION TITLE**:Floral Department Manager (Full-Time)
**LOCATION**: Village Grocer (Markham, Ontario)
**TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR**:Retail Operations Manager
**Scope**
The Village Grocer Floral Department Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating floral department activities such as purchasing, selecting, preparation and merchandising of both indoor and outdoor floral products. The manager also oversees and directs a full/part-time staff that attends to the department’s daily and seasonal needs and also serves as the lead consultant who works with clients on flower arrangement designs, the cost of flowers and delivery services. The floral department manager is also responsible for administrative and retail duties.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the operation and supervision of the floral department including, but not limited to: supervision and training of department staff, providing customer service, setting and achieving profit goals, supplier relationships, product selection & ordering, merchandising, pricing, stocking
- Meet & confer with clients regarding price, types of flowers & arrangement desired
- Water plants, cut, condition, and clean flowers and foliage display
- Unload flowers and supplies from wholesalers and growers
- Insure proper and safe storage for floral products
- Perform general cleaning duties in the store to ensure the shop is clean and tidy
- Create and change in-store and outdoor displays, designs, and look to enhance image
**Role Requirements**
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating a floral store or department
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and before/during key holidays (extended hours on occasion in peak seasons)
- Strong communication skills and ability to deal with staff and customers when required
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace environment
- Endure medium levels of physical exertion & stamina (standing, twisting, squatting, bending, moderate lifting capabilities up to 50lbs).
- Equipment operation (water hose, build/tear-down of flower carts, truck, wrapping station)
- Observes company code of conduct, policies and store rules
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and able to operate a van
**Working Conditions**
- Works primarily from our floral gazebo on the retail floor
- Indoor & outdoor work, medium to heavy lifting, working with live floral and dirt

**Salary**: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 - 44 per week
