**WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITIY?**

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Residential Support Worker (DCW1) to join our Family Supports team In this role you will be providing emotional and practical support to the young women and children in our program. This is a new vacant position under OPSEU Local 258. This role currently works in the evenings from 11:00pm to 7:15am, with opportunity for the shift schedule to change based on program needs.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:

- Support young parents and families living with mental health issues and trauma.
- Assess the individual strengths of each youth/young parent and use them as a foundation on which to build individual success.
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with youth/young parents and their children that foster a sense of relational safety.

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Degree or diploma of an accredited University or College with a major in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Counselling or other social science or health related discipline
- Minimum 1 year experience working with youth/adolescents with youth/adolescents in a live-in environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental wellness, infant and early childhood development and parent-child attachment
- Current certification in Standard CPR/First Aid
- Understanding of the impact of mental health issues and complex trauma on children and youth and their families

**ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?**
- Knowledge of youth/youth parent resources, community supports, and services in the region
- Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Above average written and verbal communication skills, ability to clearly present information and ensure information is documented accurately
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training is considered an asset.

**ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?**
- This is a casual permanent role that requires evening, weekends, and overnight shifts. There is no set number of hours for this position and is based on availability.
- Satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector check is required.
- Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
- Wage: $24.17. This includes a $3.00 per hour wage subsidy. DCW1 wage grid placement.
