WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITIY?

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a **temporary full-time contract Residential Support Worker (DCW1)** to join our Family Supports team In this role you will be providing emotional and practical support to the young women and children in our program. **This is a new vacant position under OPSEU Local 258.** This role involves evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

- Support young parents and families living with mental health issues and trauma.
- Assess the individual strengths of each youth/young parent and use them as a foundation on which to build individual success.
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with youth/young parents and their children that foster a sense of relational safety.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

- Degree or diploma of an accredited University or College with a major in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Counselling or other social science or health related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with youth/adolescents with youth/adolescents in a live-in environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental wellness, infant and early childhood development and parent-child attachment.
- Current certification in Standard CPR/First Aid and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
- Strong Understanding of strategies to support youth, mental health, addictions and trauma, infant development, and community resources.
- Ability to build rapport with vulnerable individuals.

ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?
- This is approximately a **12-month full-time contract role ending January 3, 2025** that requires evening, weekends, and overnight shifts.
- **The shift schedule to start: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11:00 pm to 7:15 am and Saturday 7pm to 7:15 am**:

- Satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector check is required.
- Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- **Wage: $24.17. This includes a $3.00 per hour wage subsidy. DCW1 wage grid placement.**
