**JOB TITLE: North American Architectural Woodwork Standards (NAAWS)** **Technical Editor**

**REPORTS TO**:Association Executives, NAAWS Committee Chair**

**STATUS**: **Independent Contractor, Casual Position (5-10 hours/month)**

**LOCATION**:Remote**

**COMPENSATION: $40-50/hour, wage negotiable with increase of responsibilities**

**ABOUT AWMAC**: The Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) is a leading industry association representing professionals and organizations within the architectural woodwork sector. AWMAC is committed to promoting excellence in woodworking craftsmanship, fostering innovation, and facilitating connections within the industry.

**COMMUNICATION**: The Technical Editor shall report to the Association Executives of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada and the Woodwork Institute as well as the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards Chair.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Attend all NAAWS Committee virtual meetings
- Review and edit technical content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, punctuation, consistency, and adherence to established standards
- Ensure NAAWS is written in a clear and concise manner, with appropriate language and tone for the target audience
- Verify and validate technical information and data
- Review and edit diagrams, illustrations, and other visual elements
- Review NAAWS suggestions, explain the impact proposed changes may have to other sections of the standard, present recommended errata changes
- Track suggestion actions, including errata, rewrite NAAWS text according to errata suggestions
- Communicate errata changes to Copy Editor
- Track changes from previous to current edition
- Meet with Associations Executives on a quarterly basis or as necessary

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility and essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Must have woodworking experience
- Knowledge of woodworking and construction concepts, terminology, and documentation practices.
- Strong proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in editing and proofreading.
- Experience with documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with technical documentation for hardware, software, or cloud-based products is a plus.
- Fabrication, installation experience, industry knowledge

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**: Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or related field, Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing or technical editing, preferably in a technology or engineering environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
