**The Role**

The purpose of this role is to provide analysis in developing and reviewing polices, guidelines, standards, processes and legislation specific to Métis child, youth and family services. With the overrepresentation of First Nations, Inuit and Métis (FNIM) children and youth in care, the Métis Nation of Ontario diligently works to mitigate and prevent the risks associated with child welfare involvement for Métis children, youth and families in Ontario. The CYFS Analyst will work within this purview to ensure that prevention is a core component of programs and policies developed or co-developed with partners (including Indigenous Partner organizations, child welfare sector agencies. The CYFS Analyst will ensure that Métis-specific priorities are shared and considered in the development / revision of guidelines, standards, and processes. Other considerations include:

- Addressing the need for preventative support by: Increasing the knowledge base of MNO staff who support children, youth and families involved or at risk of involvement with the child welfare sector;
Increasing the knowledge base of and community partners (including Children’s Aid Societies and Indigenous Child Wellbeing Agencies);
Increasing the knowledge base of federal and provincial partners with respect to Métis specific needs and key areas of contention specific to child, youth and family services / child welfare sector issues;
- Addressing the need for targeted solutions by: Conducting research and keeping abreast of new guidelines, standards (etc.) specific to Métis child, youth and family services (including residential licensing, youth justice and other targeted areas of development specific to the Child, Youth & Family Services Act and the associated regulations); and,

Attending various policy, technical tables / committees as assigned.

**The Child, youth and Family Services Analyst can be based anywhere in Ontario and expected to work within a hybrid working arrangement in one of MNO’s provincial offices three day a week.**
- Be familiar with the child welfare sector in Ontario (with awareness about challenges specific to FNIM children, youth and families navigating this sector).
- Have knowledge of the Ontario Child, Youth & Family Services Act (CYFSA); more specifically, the FNIM specific content and regulations; and,
- The Ontario, Indigenous Child & Youth Strategy (OICYS); and,
- Ontario’s Child Welfare Re-Design Plan.

**Duties include, but are not limited to**:

- Fully understand the significance and fundamental importance of MNO’s Statement of Prime Purpose (SPP) to all MNO’s work, and to the requirements of the position specifically;
- Adhere to MNO Policies and Procedures and MNO’s Financial Policies and Procedures at all times;
- Uphold MNO’s Standards of Professional Conduct at all times;
- Adhere to Privacy Laws and respect confidential information at all times;
- Be cognizant of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers' Safety and Insurance Board, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, and other legislative provisions governing the employment relationship between MNO and the employee;
- Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with established Métis Nation of Ontario Policies and Procedures and Contribution Agreements (CA);
- Work in collaboration within the Branch, other MNO branches, MNO leadership, MNO citizens, MNO contractors and consultants on related projects;
- Attend the Annual General Assembly (MNO Policy 2.120);
- Utilize specialized knowledge to meet program, Branch and organizational needs;
- Develop programs, policies, and proposals based on demographic, social and economic research and analysis;
