**Digital Health Tech Advisor**

Are you passionate about the intersection of technology and healthcare? Do you have a successful track record as an entrepreneur in the digital health space? Invest Ottawa is seeking an experienced and driven Digital Health Specialist to join our talented team of Advisors. As a Digital Health Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting early-stage digital health startups in building the foundations of their businesses.

We are seeking an experienced entrepreneur to join Invest Ottawa’s talented team of Advisors. This Digital Health Specialist will support companies across the Venture Path and industry specific programming.

**Our Companies**

The digital health startups in our programs are at the forefront of innovation, leveraging technology to transform the healthcare industry. They range from visionary founders with groundbreaking ideas to those with fully functioning prototypes. Our founders may be conducting customer discovery with hospitals and healthcare institutions, making partnerships/pilots, or seeking ways to access early funding. They are eager to learn and be part of the thriving startup community, seeking guidance from experienced advisors who can help them avoid common pitfalls when navigating the healthcare industry.

**Our Advisors**

Our Advisors are independent contractors typically with their own thriving consulting practices. They are available between 15-20 hours per month and paid the standard advisor rate of $100/hour. Please note that these hours are not guaranteed and will depend on client demand each month, which will enable you to participate in meetings with Invest Ottawa team members, and to attend key events.

Reporting to Invest Ottawa’s Director, Venture Programs, the Digital Health Specialist will support clients by:

- Offer personalized guidance and support to digital health startup founders in their early-stage journey.
- Assist founders in validating the problem they aim to solve through customer discovery, lean startup methodologies, and initial growth strategies tailored to the digital health sector.
- Collaborate with the Invest Ottawa team to share valuable feedback and insights from the digital health startups, helping to enhance our programs and services.
- Accurately record the time spent advising companies and maintain comprehensive meeting notes using Microsoft Dynamics or a similar platform.
- Participate in round table groups or lead small group workshops focused on specific digital health topics to foster collaborative learning and knowledge exchange.
- Facilitate introductions and connections between digital health startups and our sponsors when appropriate, promoting the growth and success of the startups.

**We would love to hear from you if you**:

- Previously founded and ran a successful tech or tech-enabled startup or was a early member of a successful digital health tech startup
- Possess a deep understanding of the initial steps in starting a company, including customer discovery, lean startup methodologies, and early growth strategies within the digital health sector.
- Are well connected with the health tech ecosystem in Ottawa with pre-existing relationships with the heath care institutions
- Have demonstrated experience leading, advising, and mentoring individuals or teams in the digital health startup ecosystem.
- Exhibit the capability to quickly assess challenges faced by digital health startups and provide on-the-spot guidance and support.
- Have excellent emotional intelligence, enabling you to build trustful relationships and communicate effectively as an active listener.
- Are passionate about seeing founders succeed but are willing to have difficult conversations to help the founder grow
- Are predominantly located in the Ottawa region and can attend in-person meetings and events at times
- Are primarily located in the Ottawa region, enabling you to attend in-person meetings and events when necessary.
