**The Opportunity**

The Transformation Office is looking to fill a permanent role for a Library Coordinator assigned to the Semantics and Metadata team with special responsibility for the continuous improvement of our taxonomies.

Reporting to the Manager for Metadata Governance this position would play a key role in coordinating the activities connected with creation, implementation, and evolution of the taxonomies used across the CBC. Achieving excellence in our taxonomies and controlled vocabularies contributes to the wider goals of the organization to reflect contemporary Canada and provide the best content possible to Canadians across the country.

**Key Responsibilities**

Key responsibilities for this position include:

- Establish relationships and maintain communication with various stakeholders regarding specific projects and initiatives.
- Provide education to stakeholders on the importance of taxonomies and updates on improvements being made to the CBC taxonomies.
- Oversee the planning and execution of special projects related to taxonomies and controlled vocabularies.
- Provide leadership and guidance to taxonomy team.
- Oversee and guide the ongoing work related to the improvement of taxonomies and controlled vocabularies.
- Participate in broader metadata optimization projects as needed.
- Provide training on taxonomy tools to team members.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of developments in the industry of Metadata Management and the evolution of Semantic Web technologies.
- Prioritizing tasks and projects related to the development and maintenance of taxonomies and controlled vocabularies based on client and business requirements.
- Coordinates the workflows and activities related to our taxonomies and controlled vocabularies.

- A solid understanding of information management principles, particularly those related to taxonomies and ontologies.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Comfortable working independently and prioritizing work for oneself and others.
- Open to experimentation in order to find optimal solutions to business problems.
- A Masters degree in Library or Information Science or the equivalent with experience working with taxonomies and ontologies.
- Minimum five years of experience working in the field of Library Science preferably in the Media Industry.
- Knowledge of the CBC and the metadata needs of content creators across all platforms.-
