We are looking for a Research Officer, Airborne Research to support our Aerospace Research Centre. The Research Officer in Airborne Facilities for Atmospheric Research and Reconnaissance Team would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

In your daily routine, you will engage in various activities including flying, calibrating instruments, processing data, writing scientific articles and funding proposals. Additionally, you will collaborate with a team of experts in atmospheric science, remote sensing, physics, data management, and coding. Together, we will explore and address a wide range of topics in cloud research, meteorology, and sensor development and testing, as well as examine the impact of climate events that significantly influence atmospheric conditions.

**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
PhD in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.

A Master’s degree in Atmospheric science with a combination of extensive relevant experience in leading research and publishing, may also be considered.

**Experience**:

- At least 6 years of direct and relevant experience after obtaining a PhD with a number of first author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals in this field;
- Experience in the full spectrum of research activities in atmospheric remote sensing including identification of research requirements, proposal writing, data production and analysis, and reporting through written documentation, presentations and publishing;
- Experience as a project lead in experimental campaigns;
- Direct experience as a research scientist in atmospheric flight missions; and
- Direct experience in publishing research findings using based on airborne in-situ micro physics and radar data.

**Condition of Employment**:

- Secret (II);
- The incumbent will be able to travel on deployments. He/she must be able to fly as aircrew on-board experimental aircraft and be able to access system locations (i.e., confined and/or high places) on aircraft; and
- Must be able to travel.

- Solid ability to conduct independent research using observational datasets;
- Solid ability to program in MATLAB, Python or IDL;
- Solid understanding of data analysis tools including machine learning; and
- Solid writing skills of peer reviewed publications.
