**What You Will Do**
In this role, you will connect with diverse communities of GBTQ+ guys (Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer), 2-Spirit and gender diverse people through site-based, event-based and online sexual health outreach. You will engage individuals and communities by collaboratively planning and delivering prevention/education activities with both internal and external partners to support sexual health, wellness and empowerment among GBTQ+, 2-Spirit and gender diverse people of all HIV and Hep C statuses. You will also support program coordination and engaging in bridging work to support community access to clinical services and care.
More specifically, you will:
- Connect with diverse GBTQ+, 2-Spirit and gender diverse community members to identify barriers affecting individual/community access to sexual health and other relevant services, supports and resources with the goal of connecting people with sexual health and harm reduction information
- Collaboratively develop and deliver education and prevention-related programming focused on supporting the agency and empowerment of people of all HIV/Hep C/substance use statuses and experiences
- Co-create meaningful engagement and empowerment opportunities and support effective individual and community healthcare access through knowledge and skills-building
- Support RHAC’s PrEP Clinic program by facilitating access to the Clinic and its resources (STBBI testing / Sexually Transmitted and Blood Borne Infection; PrEP / Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis / PrEP; Post-Exposure Prophylaxis in Pocket / PIP; Hep C testing and treatment)
- Coordinate Regional HIV/AIDS Connection’s Open Closet drop-in social support program for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth through program planning/administration and facilitation team engagement and support
**What You Will Bring**
- Lived/living experience
- Capacity-building and community connection skills to support improved healthcare access and wellness outcomes within GBTQ+, 2-Spirit and gender diverse communities
- Strong individual and group engagement, interpersonal, facilitation, conflict resolution and communication skills
- Effective systems navigation skills and creative approaches reducing barriers to services and supports
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust relationships with community members across diverse lived and living experiences
- Ability to occasionally work irregular hours (evenings and weekends) in a variety of social and physical settings
- Experience planning, delivering, evaluating and reporting on programs and activities
- Valid driver’s licence with regular use of a reliable vehicle for work-related duties, preferred
- First Aid/CPR, BLS and Naloxone training considered an asset
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector police check (VSC)
