The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women and gender-diverse people and their families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is person-centered and practices empowerment, inclusion, harm reduction, multi-level, and community economic development philosophies to support women and gender-diverse people experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental illness, violence, substance use, or participating in sex-trade work.

**Position Summary**: The Director of Community Services provides leadership, support, and supervision to the Drop-In and Food Security programs at the Centre.

**Accountability**: The Director of Community Services reports to and will be supervised by the Associate Executive Director. To ensure appropriate accounting of hours worked, completed timesheets are to be submitted bi-weekly, by payroll date, to the Associate Executive Director. To enhance the staff team and to be accountable to one another attendance at staff meetings and staff trainings is required.

**Salary**: $29-32/hour, plus benefits package and matched RRSP after 3 months

**Time requirement**: 37.5 hours/week

**Responsibilities**:

- **Supervise and Support Staff **_
- Act as direct supervisor for Community Services Team Leads and Drop-In staff and provide regular feedback to staff to support skill development
- Review and submit bi-weekly timecards for staff under their supervision
- Develop and maintain a respectful, positive work environment
- Support staff to resolve participant conflicts in the Centre according to our guiding values, policies and procedures
- Prepare job descriptions, job postings; conduct interviews as needed
- **Community Services Program Delivery**_
- Oversee the daily operations of the food security, and drop-in programs in collaboration with the Drop-In Team Lead and the Food Security Team Lead
- Provide conflict resolution support when situations arise in the centre, including completing incident reports and welcome back agreements with community members
- Ensure programs operate within the confines of their budgets and WCWRC policies
- Ensure staff are meeting all the requirements of their program and that programming reflects WCWRC philosophies
- **Networks and Partnerships**_
- Actively participate in community networks and committees including the Kíkinanaw Óma (Unsheltered Winnipeggers strategy) network table, the Harm Reduction network table, the Food Security network table and the For Every Family network table
- Work with partner organizations on sector-wide strategies around harm reduction, and food security
- **Management**_
- Actively participate in management meetings
- Support with long-term planning, problem-solving, and broad Centre initiatives
- Provide on-site supervision including occasional evenings and weekends, on a rotating basis
- **Evaluation and Reporting **_
- Ensure strong, useful program evaluation is occurring in all aspects of the Community Services department as per funding and WCWRC requirements
- Maintain accurate records of programs and ensure statistics are entered into the WCWRC database
- Ensure the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director are kept aware of all trends, priority issues, concerns, and opportunities and assist with problem-solving issues raised
- Track reporting dates and write proposals and reports for funding related to relevant programs in collaboration with the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director

- Actively participate in WCWRC staff retreats, trainings, and meetings
- In conjunction with other WCWRC staff, provide ongoing informal support, referral, and direction to community members using the Centre

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- **Required**_
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising, supporting, and mentoring a diverse staff team
- Existing knowledge of the issues of marginalization, poverty, and the social determinants of health
- Strong understanding of empowerment and harm reduction philosophies
- Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation
- Superior problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong administrative skills, including strong attention to detail
- **Preferred**_
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, including Social Work, Inner City Studies, or similar; a combination of experience and education will be considered
- Experience working within the non-profit sector
- Experience developing and managing a budget, writing proposals and repo
