**About the role**

This role is a key contributor in the Corporate Finance team responsible for supporting Sun Life’s global financial and regulatory reporting functions. The incumbent will be responsible for managing quarterly and annual financial and regulatory reporting, reconciliations, and controls; performing analytical reviews on financial results; and lead projects, process improvement initiatives, and ad hoc reporting requests as required. The incumbent will also support the design and implementation of a best-in-class process to centralize and integrate the data collection function across Corporate Finance teams, using existing tools (SAP, Longview, Workiva etc.) and automated workflow capabilities to achieve that outcome as needed.

**What you'll be doing**
- Assist in the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual financial, regulatory, and statistical statements and reports, including all applicable supplementary exhibits, analytics, and reconciliation to other reports such as the MD&A, KPI and standalone legal entity statements.
- Liaise with local accounting, finance, actuarial and reporting teams across various Sun Life business groups globally to support reporting deliverables
- Partner with technical, accounting and business teams to lead design and execute development and automation of internal and external reports and controls using multiple reporting tools, techniques, and sources of data
- Keep abreast of changes in accounting and regulatory policies, standards, and guidelines, with the ability to assess impact to reporting. Liaise with key stakeholders across Corporate Finance to understand key reporting deliverables, both internal and external.
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-team stakeholders to drive operational efficiencies, building upon a culture of continuous improvement
- Contribute to strategic ad-hoc projects across Corporate Finance and the implementation of new reporting processes and controls

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Accounting designation CPA, CA, CMA or CGA or equivalent
- 4+ years of relevant experience in either public accounting or publicly-traded companies, preferably in the insurance industry
- Ability to visualize, organize and manage large volumes of data
- Collaborative experience with technical, accounting and business teams at all levels, with the ability to communicate with purpose
- Ability to project manage and ensure timely execution of deliverables within a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated experience in designing and developing reporting solutions and automations
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA (including Fiori and Analysis for Office) and Aptitude Accounting Hub is an advantage
- Experience with Workiva wDesk and Longview is an advantage

**Preferred skills**
- Self-starter, with a proven track record to lead projects and deliver tangible results
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; with a strong attention to detail while maintaining a "big picture" view in a complex environment
- Ability to manage conflicts and competing priorities, with a strong ability to influence without authority to navigate a decentralized organization and drive change across functional groups to achieve desired outcomes
- Ability to think outside the box to maximize utilization of technology (e.g. RPA) to eliminate, automate or otherwise streamline manual processes to drive operational excellence
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to present results and recommendations to target audience in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to manage changing priorities, excellent organization, and project management skills
- Ability to motivate and lead finance team members, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
