**FACILITIES TECHNICIAN**

Bayview Glen is currently looking for a full-time **Facilities Technician** to join our team. Reporting to the Facilities Director, you’ll be part of the Facilities team and provide a wide range of semi-skilled building maintenance and grounds keeping services to ensure that all students, staff, and our community enjoy a safe, attractive, clean, and healthy environment for learning and work.
- **What You’ll Be Doing**:_
- Operating and maintaining all facilities equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, as well as other mechanical equipment (HVAC), ensuring all are in good working order
- Managing facility information, documentation, repair logs, daily logs, maintenance and safety checks on equipment and systems as required
- Performing a wide range of general building maintenance duties as assigned, including outdoor work in heat, rain, cold, snow
- Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and tools
- Maintaining familiarity with building systems including, but not limited to, building automation, security, and fire alarm systems
- Supporting faculty and staff with event planning, preparation, and execution
- Complying with all relevant safety legislation, health and safety, and other statutory requirements as well as company and department safety/security policies and procedures
- Maintaining proficiency in Fire Alarm/Safety and emergency power systems and being familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the Life Safety System Team
- Shift work based on weekly schedule (weekday days/afternoons with occasional weekends)
- **What You’ll Need**:_
- Three to five years’ related maintenance and building operator experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Certification in building operations (BES, BAS)
- Knowledge of Ontario Fire Code, Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation including “Confined space” entry procedures and relevant testing equipment
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, take initiative in a proactive manner
- Ability to use general seasonal landscaping equipment to perform duties required throughout the year (e. g. snow removal, salting, gardening, leaf and litter pick up, etc.)
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour
- Ability to work at Heights; Ladders, Booms box / Scissor lift, Confined Spaces
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with management, staff, students, parents, external contractors, and the public in a courteous and professional manner
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required for school functions and events
