**Facilities Technician**

Full-Time Permanent

**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Facilities Technician, reporting to the Facilities Director, plays an important role in supporting the facility-related needs of the Junior School community. This includes responding to assigned work orders, assisting with school activities and events, and performing essential building maintenance tasks. Working closely with the Facilities team, this role will engage in preventive and routine maintenance to ensure the safe functioning of equipment and preserve both the interior and exterior areas of the school building. Responsibilities also involve contributing to the upkeep of a well-maintained and secure environment, ultimately supporting smooth school operations.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responds to assigned work orders and preventative maintenance tasks using the maintenance management system and provide status updates in a timely manner
- Completes set-ups and tear-downs for School meetings and events
- Acts as a parking lot attendant during student drop-off and pick-up times and during School events
- Perform a wide range of general maintenance duties to buildings, grounds and equipment
- Assist with the operation of building systems including but not limited to HVAC, security and fire alarm systems
- Works as part of the Facilities Team to respond to emergencies (i.e. floods, fire alarms, power failures, etc.)
- First point of contact for evening rentals, providing assistance as needed

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:

- A valid driver’s license is required for occasional driving duties
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills are required
- Solid knowledge of painting and drywall repair work
- Must work within the school’s health and safety framework as well as provincial Occupational Health & Safety laws
- Ability to use computer software and computer technology at an entry-level
- Required to occasionally complete job related training as required
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact with students, parents and teachers cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously, patiently and with discretion
- A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a “How can I help?” attitude

**WORKING REQUIREMENTS**:

- The York School Campus, Toronto Ontario
- Early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required
- Regularly lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects, such as materials and finished projects weighing over 50 lbs
- Working in environments with dust and dirt, experiencing potential temperature extremes, and requiring frequent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Extended periods of standing and working in a crouched or bent position
- Occasional work with chemicals
