**RECREATION**AL SERVICES ASSOCIATE**
Title: Recreational Services Associate
Reports To: Recreational Services Supervisor
Date: January 11 2021
Job Summary:
You will be responsible to execute all activities for all age ranges, including family. You may also be responsible for promoting the Yogi Bear character and themes throughout your schedule. This role, as a part of the campground staff, will assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of recreation facilities, equipment and park grounds.
Essential Job Duties: (these duties include, but are not limited to):
- Our Guests are our number 1 priority, and our recreation Partners are vital in delivering a WOW experience to our customers. Smiles and your attitude are critical to the success of this role. Choose to be positive.
- Execute daily recreation and activity program with exaggerated positive excitement and interest to all campers
- Create and maintain the illusion that Yogi Bear and friends are “real” ensuring all guests have a positive and entertaining experience during their stay.
A. Training for being in costume and a handler; ensuring that all Character antics are within acceptable guidelines.
B. Ensure that Characters make scheduled appearances a minimum of twice daily during the midweek and a minimum of three times daily on weekends and holidays. Off peak season as directed.
C. Ensure that character costumes are submitted for annual check up and refurbishing. Keep character costumes maintained; including regular cleaning, brushing and appropriate storage.
4. Set up, conduct and transition all recreational programs. such as Arts and Crafts and physical activities in line with your theme.
- Ensure camper and employee safety within all recreation programs and assist in any camper emergency within resort guidelines. Inspect and assist in the maintenance of recreation facilities and equipment.
- Communicate and Coordinate with Recreation Director any safety or department challenges
- Must be available weekends and evenings,
Qualifications:
- Must be of legal age to work within Nova Scotia
- Experience/Education conducting group activities preferred such as coaching within a ream environment.,
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written venues
- Specific training and /or experience in recreation programming
- Current certifications of First Aid/CPR and AED preferred and considered an asset
- Possess exceptional guest relations skills
- Weekend/Evening hours are required.
- WHMIS certification and valid First Aid and CPR training will be considered an asset
Physical Demands:
- This position is an extremely physically active position.
- Employee is regularly required to stand, walk and run.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, hop, skip and jump.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- This position also frequently includes assisting in promoting the image of the characters and the employee to dress in costumes, which are confining spaces and can be extremely hot.
- Employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions (hot and humid, rainy, extreme temperatures, airborne particles)
**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week
**Salary**: From $14.30 per hour

**Experience**:
- Life Enrichment Specialists: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- First Aid course (preferred)
