Co-op/Summer intern positions at Urban Impact are more than just a work term. The position will provide you with meaningful and challenging work experiences. In the Safety Co-op/Intern position, you will develop your professional skills and explore how Health and Safety functions within an organization.

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual with a natural ability to communicate, help organize and support safety priorities, training, and initiatives at Urban Impact. Each day is unique and never routine.

You are eager to build your career and have a hands-on approach to safety and are interested to dive in with interest and enthusiasm. Ideally, you bring a friendly, authentic, and forward-thinking approach to your communications and staff interactions and a practical but thorough approach to safety. The Safety Co-op role requires a mature, friendly, and professional attitude. Someone who has the confidence to figure it out, even when you don’t have all the answers. You must be familiar with WorkSafe regulations.

Coop or Summer Intern for Safety will be assigned a variety and-wide ranging tasks and duties supporting Urban Impact’s Safety Program and our Goal of Zero Incidents, Zero Accidents.

A proactive and interactive approach to training, inspections, on the ground learning and monitoring.

**4. Paperwork**:
Ensure that documentation and records are kept up to date and reflect the proactive approach we have to safety.

**Education**

Enrolled in degree, certificate, diploma or post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety. Preferably some safety work experience.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Support updating and reviewing all Toolbox Talk Content **to ensure it is up to date and current. Prepare content in advance of the scheduled delivery.
- **Draft wording for updates to Safety Program** as assigned.
- **Support Return to work and Injured worker management** ~ ensure all paperwork for injured works is complete and filed. Submit Incident Reports to Work Safe, etc.
- **Participate in JOSH and all Inspections to promote a strong safety culture.**:

- **Assist with transition to safety documentation and process onto Safety Software. **Review software capabilities and recommend items to transition. Provide training to users to ensure full use of software.
- **Other Tasks as assigned**
