Position Information

**Position Title**
- Materials Management Attendant**Position Summary**
- We are seeking a permanent full-time Materials Management Attendant to join the Campus Management team.
- The Materials Management Attendant is responsible for the processing and distribution of daily mail, receiving/distributing of goods, scheduling, and booking Polytechnic vehicles. The incumbent will participate in the designing, installing, and modifying of Polytechnic signage across the campuses. This position will also assist in the programming of card access as well as with the issuing and cutting of keys.- The job description and classification for this position are currently under review._

**Position Responsibilities**

**Receiving/Distribution of Goods**
- Unloads freight from trucks and trailers using a forklift, pallet jack, and manual labour
- Looks up PO’s and processes them and determines if an asset tag is needed
- Delivers large and bulky items throughout polytechnic
- Processing and expediting of goods off campus
- Participates in annual or bi-annual capital asset audit
- Enters and tags all polytechnic capital assets for inventory and tracking

**Polytechnic Signage**
- Installs and modifies internal and external signage for wayfinding, regulation, parking signs
- Designs, prints, and cuts vinyl signs, in collaboration with supervisor
- Coordinates contract services for outsourcing and installation of signage
- Liaises with other Polytechnic departments/committees to review and approve new signage
- Determines if signage meets RDP standards and guidelines

**Electronic Access and Key Control**
- Leads the programming of electronic fob access for staff and students using KANTAC system
- Assists Materials Management Technician with issuing and cutting keys
- Maintains filing system for key pickup sheets

**Processing and Distribution of Mail and Operations**
- Collects and distributes all incoming, outgoing, and internal mail/courier once daily
- Opens incoming mail addressed to Red Deer Polytechnic only and redirects to the appropriate person/department
- Determines appropriate service for outgoing mail
- Creates online shipping labels for Canada Post couriers and processes labels for other courier companies
- Prints end of the month postal billing reports and ensures the correct chargeback information from these reports are entered into Banner for Finance
- Maintains and updates mail slot labels for all staff mail slots
- Logs all incoming cheques and cash and delivers to cashiers
- Determines most cost effective and efficient way for complex international deliveries
- Liaises with recycling companies on behalf of various departments, as needed
- Maintains inventory of postage and supplies needed for processing mail
- Orders supplies for office, as needed
- Maintains filing system for tracking sheets, purchase orders and similar

**Schedule and Maintain Polytechnic Vehicles**
- Maintains schedule and ensures bookings are accurate and makes changes as needed
- Coordinates cleaning and maintenance of vehicles
- Ensures vehicles are clean and fueled when returned, resolving concerns and issues with user and escalates to supervisor as needed
- Updates sign in sign out sheet
- Maintains keys for vehicles

**Required Qualifications**
- Completion of a 1-year college certificate, one year University or equivalent in graphic design, marketing, or business administration
- Certificates required - First Aid, Forklift class 4 & 5, WHIMIS, TDG Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License
- Over One up to Two Years previous job-related experience
- Previous experience in a shipping & receiving environment
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated computer skills in various programs including MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail
- Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50lbs.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Knowledge & operational experience of the Canada post postage machine an asset
- Signage plotter software such as Coral draw or Cut Studio is an asset
- Key fob access/cutting experience using Kantec preferred
