- Reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Future Students, the Central Print Shop Operator is responsible for the efficient and effective production of all printing. The Central Print Shop Operator provides a range of printing solutions to a diverse internal client base, adhering to all copyright and Fair dealing Policy requirements and collating reports as required by ACCESS©, The Canadian Copyright Agency.
The Central Print Shop Operator is responsible for ensuring all Print Room equipment is efficiently and effectively maintained, liaising with I.T. and management as appropriate. In particular, the strict adherence to all Health and Safety requirements in the use of print machines and chemicals.
The Central Print Shop Operator position is an integral and important part of a small and flexible team, other duties such as assisting with marketing & recruitment events, campaigns and initiatives will be required at times, dependent on the needs of the department. **Duties & Responsibilities**
- 1. Establish and maintain efficient file keeping of: Assessments, Exams, NIC print masters, digital files and the production of any copy jobs, in accordance with established procedures and adherence to copyright and Fair Dealing regulations.
- 2. Ensure all printing and binding equipment is properly maintained, researching new upgrades for acquisitions for increased productivity.
- 3. Develop and maintain pricing formulas for printing and update as costs rise.
- 4. Responsible maintaining an inventory of all Print Room consumables such as; paper, toner, binding and other supplies.
- 5. Responsible Print Room data as required by the WinPRISM inventory control system is maintained.
- 6. Accurately records and tracks the use of copyrighted works and reports printing and sales as required to ACCESS© The Canadian Copyright Agency.
- 7. Efficient collation of information for Marketing & Future Students reports pertaining to Print Room activities as required.
- 8. Supports the Manager, Marketing & Future Students by effectively monitoring and reporting work flow in the Print Room and by providing support to the Marketing & Future Students department team as directed.
- 9. Liaise closely with employees of all levels ensuring output of print requests is of the highest quality and met in a timely manner.
- 10. Responsible for monthly billing for any chargeable printing - calculating costs and preparing information for input to the purchasing department.
- 11. Responsible for printing and distributing complex jobs, using, complex multi-function production printers, such as: business cards, guides, booklets, exams, learning materials.
- 12. Works with Department Manager to develop guidelines and structure around printing processes.
- 13. Ensures compliance with NIC’s Visual Identity Guidelines and Brand Strategy.
- The position incorporates any other duties as required by the Manager.**Required Education & Experience**
- 1. One-year Certificate in either Print Management, Production Layout, Graphic Design or similar program including basic bookkeeping, records management, word processing, database and spreadsheet courses.
2. Minimum three years’ experience in large and small format colour and B/W digital print output and bindery in a full service print shop a related or similar position, including experience in the using high volume multi-function print production and finishing equipment, shipping and receiving routines.**Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities**
- 1. Working knowledge of WinPRISM inventory control system software would be an asset.
2. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, good standard of oral and written communication, time management and problem solving skills.
3. Capacity to perform physically demanding work in a safe manner;
4. WHIMS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certifications are required.
5. Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Excel, InDesign and Adobe software.
6. Knowledge of the Canadian copyright regulations and Fair Dealing Policy.
