Position title: Community Service Worker (Summer position) - Canada Summer Job Grant

Location: London Food Bank, 926 Leathorne Street, London

Reports to: General Manager/supervisor of direct service

Start date: July 04, 2023

Job Objective : This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. The student/youth will develop an understanding of how to assist individuals and families facing food insecurity.

**Responsibilities**:

- Do Client Intake of those needing assistance. (Link2Feed Training will be provided)
- Answer phones and queries about Food Bank services
- Do Client intake/hamper preparation for other social agencies calling ahead for pick up.
- Fill in as required in volunteer positions of greeting clients, taking food hampers to clients, creating hampers, sorting food etc....
- Work with other staff and volunteers to
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and abilities:

- Adaptability and willingness to work and fill in as required.
- Physically capable of lifting 40 pounds if needed
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Good attention to detail, openness and empathetic listening skills
- Ability to work within a team as well as independently
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of ethics
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission of the London Food Bank

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;
- Completion of secondary school AND some post secondary education in a related Community or Social service field
- Required to be available for program starting July 4, 2023
- Previous community service is an asset

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 weeks

**Salary**: $17.50 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Work Location: In person
