**Opportunity**:
We are looking for a Crisis Response and Home Support Worker for the Vancouver area. In this role, the worker must be able to travel to families’ homes and within their community to provide a variety of education and supportive interventions that promote healthier family functioning, reduce risk factors, maintain safety, and increase well-being for families involved with Ministry for Children and Family Development (“MCFD”). Additionally, the worker will also be responsible for providing support for Groups and the Family Preservation Team.

In the Home Support Program cases provide 12 -20 hours of support over an 8 to 12 week period.

The Crisis Response program provides intensive support to families in crisis for a period of 2 weeks until longer term services can be put in place.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Vancouver Programs and Services Manager, the worker will be responsible for the following functions:

- Help assist clients in strategies to declutter, organise and maintain their home environment to a standard necessary for parenting their children.
- Work directly with families to address the immediate and pressing risk factors in the family and within the home environment over a two-week period or until another service is available.
- Provide emergency childcare for families so they can complete tasks identified in their Family Plans.
- Participate in integrative case management meetings as needed to determine outcomes for individuals referred to the Agency.
- Consult with the MCFD to co-ordinate and deliver services as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate relevant client information with agency staff across departments.
- Link individuals with urgent needs to immediate resources (i.e. securing food resources, financial assistance, and housing).
- Effectively communicate with family members and social workers.
- Provide timely reports and be prepared to testify about this in court, if necessary.
- Maintain files in accordance with the accreditation standards.
- Work with families with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Work with at-risk and marginalized families within the community.
- This position may involve flexible hours including evenings, weekends to accommodate the needs of clients, as well as covering when staff are off.
- Other Duties as assigned.

**What you bring to WFC**
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize client needs.
- Knowledge of child development, positive parenting, home management, decluttering strategies and family dynamics.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict.
- An understanding of integrated case management is an asset
- Bilingual or Multilingual considered an asset

**Requirements:
- Diploma in an area of study relevant to social/human service (e.g., Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, etc.) with at least 1-year experience working with children and/or youth, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record and use of own vehicle.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR & AED Level C certificate or ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
- Food Safe certification.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
