Position Summary
The Support Worker provides a range of supports for chronically homeless individuals living in the community, many of whom have concurrent mental illness, substance use and /or physical health issues. Using a strengths-based model, the Support Worker participates with tenants and Service Plan Coordinators in the development and implementation of service plans, including assessment; goal setting, achievement and review; resource acquisition; and monitoring in the areas of daily living, financial, vocational/educational, social supports, health, harm reduction, culture, recovery and leisure/recreational supports. The Support Worker works closely and collaboratively with other direct service staff, family and external service providers, advocating for access and rights as needed. The Support Worker also provides daily supports including medication administration, building security, crisis intervention, health and recreational groups and general problem solving.

**Job**: Float Support Worker, Various Programs (Lux as Home Program), Permanent, Full-Time 1.0 FTE
**Salary Range**: $30.64-$32.31 (BCGEU, Grid 34)
- $31.56-$33.28 Effective April1, 2024
**Hours**: 75 bi-weekly
**Schedule**: Tuesday-Saturday, 11:30pm-7:30am; with a half hour unpaid meal break
**Work Site**: assorted housing programs in the Vancouver area, Lux home program
**Start Date**: As soon as possible
Pursuant to the Provincial Health Officer's Order, the incumbent of this position is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We will only consider applicants who are fully vaccinated, or who have received an exemption from the Provincial Health Office. Proof of either must be provided in advance of any offer of employment being made.
- In addition, you will be paid a shift premium of $2.50 per hour for the entirety of each night shift worked. “Night shift” means any shift in which the major portion occurs between 12:00 midnight and 8:00 AM.

Standard Medication Training or a commitment to partaking in Standard Medication Training is required.
Purpose
The purpose of the float position is to fill shifts efficiently and prevent over time and staffing shortages.
Procedure
- Each Float Support Worker will be assigned to a Home Program.
- As shift vacancies occur in programs, the Float will be deployed to fill the vacancies.
- Float staff can be deployed to fill shifts prior to the shift being callout out to relief staff, prior the shift being offered in overtime, or in emergencies to prevent staffing shortages.
- If a vacancy does not happen for a float shift, the Float staff will be assigned to work the shift in their home program.

Program Summary
The Lux provides 92 units of supported housing to people who are coping with the realities of homelessness, substance use, and complex physical and mental health concerns. The Lux is staffed 24/7 by support workers, the building is monitored 24/7 by front desk staff at the main entrance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Many forms of education and experience are valued, including volunteering and lived experience of mental illness / addiction/ homelessness; Minimum education and experience includes:
A Diploma in community social services
- A Diploma in community social services
- Two years of recent, related work experience with an emphasis on mental health, addictions, homelessness and/or social services.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Current First Aid, CPR.
