**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Landscape Architecture/ Design, Horticulture, Turf Management, Parks Management or related field
- Cemeterian Operations and Management (ORFA) training
- Five (5) years’ experience in cemetery management/funeral service industry, or ground maintenance, parks, horticulture
- Three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Demonstrated knowledge of Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act
- Working knowledge of light to heavy equipment utilized in cemetery operations
- Working knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques, including landscape construction, garden design, fencing, grounds installation and repair
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with staff, contractors, general public and the funeral service industry
- Demonstrated organizational, tact and diplomacy skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
- Valid Class G driver’s license, with a satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Current Police Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector)
- Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with bereaved families
**Assets**:
- Working knowledge of cemetery record management software including Stone Orchard, GIS
- Project management training and expertise
**Duties**:
Assumes management responsibility for assigned services and activities of the Cemetery Division, including the development, organization and operation of several active and inactive municipal cemeteries
- Develop long-term strategies and plans for capital improvements and cemetery expansion projects.
- Coordinate schedules and arrangements with contractors, funeral homes and other agencies to ensure services are delivered in a professional and timely manner.
- Develop and implement cemetery policies and by-law amendments, ensuring proper interpretation of provincial legislation and by-laws.
- Prepare reports for submission and presentation to parties including the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and the Cemetery Advisory Committee and Brant County Council.
- Recruiting, training, developing, supervising, and reviewing employee performance on a regular basis and taking supportive action as required.
- Assist public and bereavement service providers relating to cemetery services and general operations.
- Prepare and monitor division budget, including forecasting of needs and expenditure approvals.
- Develops, monitors, and executes capital budget projects and initiatives.
- Complete regular cemetery inspections, including the coordination of action plans and organization of monument repairs and foundation installation as required.
- Coordinate County horticulture program, including planting and maintenance of gardens and planters.
- Provides excellent customer service for sale of lots, niches, and cemetery services with the general public with empathy, responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Responsible for accurate record keeping of all transactions.
- Maintenance of building, equipment, gardens, and cemetery as required.
- Assist funeral directors with interment services as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Rate of Pay **-$38.29 - $44.79 (Job Grade 6) 40 hours per week
