**POSITION**:APPLIANCE PROCESSING AND DISASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN**

**DEPARTMENT**:Processing**

**FLSA CLASS**:Non-Exempt**

**REPORTS TO**:General Manager**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
Perform manual, semi-skilled tasks to process major appliances and prepare materials for recycling or proper disposal.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures and immediately report any unsafe condition to General Manager.
- Remove appliance materials and components according to company procedures and in adherence with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete records at processing stations.
- Move appliances to designated locations within facility, keeping walkways free of obstructions.
- Load and unload appliances from trucks as needed.
- Practice good housekeeping in work area and secure tools when not in use.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper, safe working condition.
- Participate in company-sponsored training programs.
- Protect company assets from internal and external theft.
- Adhere to work schedules and attendance policies, including arriving to work on time, following breaktime procedures, and adhering to call-out procedures.
- Assist occasionally at appliance collection events.
- Assume other responsibilities from time to time as directed.

**KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS**:
**Essential Skills & Experience**
- Previous warehouse experience.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Proficiency at working safely in warehouse setting.
- Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
- Ability to understand instructions and perform job duties safely.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with solid work history.
- Ability to work overtime as needed due to fluctuations in business volume and staffing.
- High standards of professionalism and ethics.
- Capacity to remain professional in strenuous physical environment with changing priorities.

**Certificate, License & Registration Requirements**
- Universal or CFC Type 1 certification required for position; certification is obtained by taking an open-book test, which will be provided and paid for by the company upon hiring.

**Screening Requirements**
- Must be able to pass a company pre-employment physical exam, hearing test, drug test and criminal background check.**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to grip, lift, stoop, bend, squat and turn on a consistent, repetitive basis.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds on a repetitive basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis without assistance.
- Physically able to perform strenuous work under varied circumstances.
