Position Summary
Clinical Coordinator, Mental Health Program
The Clinical Coordinator role is a leadership position within the Mental Health Program with the primary focus being on collaborative leadership, enhancing the patient experience, and ensuring optimal patient flow. Embracing models of operational and clinical excellence, patient and family driven care, diversity, and health equity, you will work in partnership with the interdisciplinary team, other teams across the hospital and external partners. You will provide leadership and oversight of special projects working both independently and interdependently. You will also act as a resource to patients, families, and members of the care team by providing consultation in situations where advanced clinical expertise is required; provide advice and guidance to other health care providers regarding complex patient care matters, program planning, policy development and problem solving. You are highly organized, able to succeed in a fast paced and high-volume client facing environment and are eager to engage in new challenges every day. You also have well-developed interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, can work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team, are able to effectively prioritize and multi-task. You have excellent verbal and written communication, teaching skills and project management skills. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and families.
On a practical level, you will
Be responsible for project management and coordination of unit and program-based initiatives such as Accreditation and Quality Improvement Activities
Support complex clinical situations by providing guidance to members of the inter-professional team.
Facilitate the development of systems and processes, in partnership with the team, to enhance quality of care and contribute to a positive patient experience.
In partnership with the unit coordinators, facilitate patient flow internally and externally.
Assist in the implementation and evaluation of targets, goals and objectives as identified both internally and externally.
Support staff in utilizing critical thinking skills in resolving complex clinical issues.
Provide direction and guidance to all members of the health care team, patients and their families, groups and organizations and collaborate with the health care team members to support high quality, evidence driven care.
Engage in evidence-based practice and may initiate changes to enhance the quality of patient care in the Mental Health Program as appropriate including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the introduction of practice changes.
Participate in or lead program and unit-based committees.
Assists the Clinical Team Manager in supporting and maintaining Nursing Standards of Practice, hospital policies and procedures.
Monitors and facilitates equipment maintenance. Assist with capital equipment purchase process, RFP process and clinical trials.
Day to day responsibility for managing projects to ensure activities meet or exceed needs and expectations. Maintains timely communications with all project team members/senior management. Identifies schedules and tracks project deliverables, milestones and required tasks. Consults and coordinates with vendors throughout the projects’ implementation cycle. Assists with all, program planning, unit renovations, introduction of new equipment, and participation in the RFP process as required.
**Qualifications**:
Registered Nurse, Member in good standing with the College of Nurses.
BCLS certified.
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree or enrolled in a Master’s program in nursing, health administration, leadership is preferred.
