**Responsibilities and Authority**

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for health, safety and well-being concerns related to the workplace. The Health and Safety Coordinator will work collaboratively with the production department and various cross-functional departments to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

**Job Functions**
- Supports the daily operations of the Edmonton safety function and its activities.
- Gather and communicate compliance material, including new requirements, updates, ect.
- Maintain accurate and up-to date information on safety boards
- Schedule, perform and document drills and exercises
- Maintain emergency response plans
- Advise managers, supervisors and employees about safe work practices and safety standards and regulations
- Recommend procedures and equipment for safety and compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Develop health and safety policies and programs
- Facilitate employee safety committees and programs
- Promote safe work practices and injury prevention activities
- Participate in incident investigations
- Manage WCB cases and incidents
- Inspect machines to identify potential hazards
- Recommend risk-reduction measures
- Regularly inspect premises for fire hazards and adequate fire protection, and inspect firefighting equipment
- Investigate the causes of incidents and develop procedure or devices to prevent future occurrences.
- Conduct noise level surveys
- Take air quality samples
- Complete ergonomic assessments
- Identity dusts, vapours or gasses, and advise management about corrective measures
- Other Duties as assigned

**Education and/or Experience**
- OH&S Degree, Diploma, NCSO or certificate of CRSP.
- Understanding of the manufacturing industry; 2-5 years considered an asset
- 2 years of COR Audit Experience
- 2 years of WCB Claim experience
- Environmental experience considered an asset
