Our mission is to provide all on and off campus students, as well as the surrounding community, information so that they understand their personal rights and responsibilities as well as those of their landlords, neighbours and peers. We will do all that we can to be a known asset of Western University - one that will assist in mediation awareness, support and act as a liaison between students, administration and the community.
**Responsibilities**:
Under the direction of the Housing Mediation Officer for the Housing and Ancillary Services Division, this role contributes to Western University's priority to create and enhance a strong relationship with the neighbourhood communities surrounding the University. These goals are achieved by working collaboratively with the City of London, student groups, landlords and neighbourhood associations along with the broader University community. Emphasis is directed at promoting behavioural expectations for student civility, personal conduct, and upkeep of property. The Off-Campus Housing Coordinator supervises the Off-Campus Advisor Program and the 20 Off-Campus Advisors including providing support on an "on call basis" during evenings and weekends (during the full academic year) to provide advice and guidance. This role acts in conjunction with and on behalf of the Housing Mediation Officer in their absence to provide strong mediation support during peak periods and during regular evening hours during the academic year. In addition to the Housing Mediation Officer, the incumbent also provides neutral third-party assistance and resolution to problems which arise between students and landlords, students and London residents and/or students and students in the areas of housing and lifestyles. The role also provides an additional layer of support to the day-to-day operation of the Off-Campus Housing services which are routinely handled by an Off-Campus Housing Clerk. This role ensures that Off-Campus Housing assistance/support is provided to students looking for off-campus accommodation, and listings of housing available throughout the city of London are maintained. In addition, the role will also be responsible for a summer student staff who is responsible for assisting International students find appropriate accommodations. This involves giving direction to the staff member and occasionally fulfilling the role in the staff member's absence.
**Qualifications**:
- Education:
- Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree
- Mediation Training
- Experience:
- Three years experience working in the housing industry building positive customer relations and facilitating problem resolution
- Three years progressive customer service, administrative and project management experience
- Two years experience directly supervising student staff including designing training, hiring, and evaluation methods
- Experience building teams within a large community of students, student-staff, and professional staff
- Social Media training

- Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities
