We are currently hiring for the position of:
**RETAIL SUPERVISOR, TIFF Shop**
As Retail Supervisor, TIFF Shop, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of our retail store. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of customer service, optimizing sales performance, and managing a team of retail associates. Your leadership skills and attention to detail will be crucial in creating a positive shopping experience for our customers.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Shall include but not be limited to:
**Team Management**:
- Supervise and motivate retail staff to achieve sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service.- Train new employees on TIFF Shop processes, company policies, product knowledge, and customer service standards.- Schedule and organize staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours.- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members.
**Customer Service**:
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and resolving customer complaints or inquiries promptly and professionally.- Demonstrate in-depth product knowledge and interact with customers in the shop to meet their needs and drive sales.- Maintain a welcoming and tidy store environment, including displays and merchandise presentation.- Address any issues or concerns raised by customers in a timely and efficient manner.-
- Maintain knowledge about services and programming available at TIFF Lightbox.
**Sales and Inventory Management**:
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with management to optimize stock levels and product assortment.- Utilize POS database to complete purchasing and receiving paperwork for the Finance department- Review Shopify account, process online transactions, package and mail out products.- Implement promotional activities and integrated marketing initiatives to drive sales and attract customers.- Ensure accuracy in pricing, labeling, and stock rotation procedures.- Participate in the annual inventory count and conduct inventory spot checks throughout the year.
**Operational Efficiency**:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and security protocols.- Prepare daily cash float and calculate daily deposit for the Finance department.- Enforce company policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ensure a safe working environment.- Maintain a clean work environment, including dusting and cleaning of displays.- Set up and tear down promotional displays and pop up shops- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficient operational practices.
**JOB GRADE & SALARY**:
- Job Grade 1- $20.00 CAD Hourly
**TARGET **CONTRACT DATES**:
- Target start date: Jul 5, 2024
**WORK LOCATION**:
- TIFF Shop: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5- Evenings & Weekends required
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
- Proven experience in a retail supervisory or leadership role.- 3+ years experience in a retail environment.- Experience with Shopify and/or Givex strongly preferred.- Cash handling experience required.- Previous experience working in an arts & culture and/or film environment is considered an asset.- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in retail management is a plus.- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams.- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Demonstrated ability to drive sales and achieve targets.- Proficiency in inventory management and basic financial analysis.- Sound knowledge of retail operations and best practices.- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.- Strong passion and interest in the film and entertainment industry.- Available to work full-time for the duration of the Festival and subsequent Pop ups.
