Description
The Supply Chain Supervisor at the Ontario Distribution Centre (ODC) will play a crucial role in supporting the Supply Chain Manager by overseeing daily transportation and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient processes, and achieving performance targets. This role combines operational and supervisory responsibilities, aiming to maintain high service levels through effective management and collaboration with the team and stakeholders. The Supply Chain Supervisor will primarily focus on optimizing day-to-day transportation activities to meet and exceed set performance objectives.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Strategic Operations
Ensure the use appropriate processes and software systems to ensure secure, accurate, timely and efficient receipt and dispatch of product into/out of the warehouse including execution of FIFO and FEFO methodology and inventory reconciliation.
Design and implement processes and artifacts to ensure all shipping and receiving documentation is maintained in accordance with industry standards.
In consultation with the Supply Chain Manager prepare shipments required for daily scheduled deliveries and pickups as scheduled with OCE Ministry Units, making optimal use of available resources.
Monitor inventory levels and provide regular, timely feedback to Supply Chain Manager regarding specific food needs.
Monitor and report level of MRO goods to management to ensure continuity of supply.
Supervise the planned maintenance of warehouse equipment and troubleshoot/replace as needed
Maintain and update inspection and maintenance records for all of warehouse equipment.
Provide training and adopt all appropriate policies with respect to food handling and best before/expiry date requirements to ensure all food distributed complies with appropriate guidelines.
Ensure protocols and procedures for all visitors to the warehouse are followed, keeping warehouse organized, neat and clean as required, meeting Department of Health standards
Ensure security and fraud prevention monitoring of all warehouse facility.
Implement all appropriate Quality Control systems and processes.
Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the warehouse staff to ensure productivity/performance targets are met or exceeded.
Monitor inventory levels and provide regular, timely feedback to management regarding specific toy needs.
Supervise all warehouse activities when Supply Chain Manager is absent from work.
Supervision
Supervise driving staff and lead all driving operations in an efficient and effective manner utilizing all available resources (personnel, equipment, and facility) in support of operational objectives, and the execution of deliveries and pickups, circle checks, preventative maintenance and in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation.
Assign daily tasks/responsibilities to driving warehouse staff and volunteers to complete as directed by Management.
In conjunction with Supply Chain Manager, responsible for driving and warehouse staff and volunteers' orientation and development.
Oversee staff training and monitor staff performance and progress.
Ensure all staffing concerns are escalated to the Supply Chain Manager as necessary and handled in accordance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Assist in the supervision of warehouse volunteers to ensure they are directed and trained for assigned tasks in accordance with Health and Safety standards.
Supervise warehouse staff in the execution of all required warehouse functions to support all ODC Campaigns including warehouse preparation and sorting, inventory management and order fulfilment.
Supervision of teams of toy sorting volunteers to process toys in an efficient, effective, and safe way; motivate and lead warehouse team to meet the extraordinary work demands of our Toy Campaigns.
Administration
Assist the Supply Chain Manager in day-to-day administrative duties.
Ensure driver, fleet, maintenance, insurance, and vehicle service logs are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
Ensure all CVOR registrations are updated and in place (Commercial Vehicle Operation Registration).
Provide governance over daily vehicle checks.
Health and Safety
Ensure warehouse operations are always conducted in a safe manner and report any Health and Safety concerns to management.
Implement and enforce standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security in the work environment.
Coordinate and familiarize volunteers with warehouse health and safety policies and procedures, provide the necessary training on the handling and operating of warehouse equipment/materials.
Co-Chair and be an additional point of contact for Health and Safety Committee; ensures that the Health and Safety committee is operational and functional as well as helping to facilitate the monthly meeting.
