**Note: This position is located in Portland Oregon**

**What is the opportunity?**

Aecon Industrial is seeking a operationally focused leader to help excute cutting edge water projects. Reporting to the project director, the construction manager will oversee the daily operations related to the project.

**What you'll do here**:

- Drives exceptional safety performance and culture within the business
- Oversees testing, quality, and safety
- Drive schedule adherence and acceleration
- Recommends recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy
- Promotes profitability through sound planning, active communication, and follow-up.
- Reports issues to Project Manager regarding financial performance, workload status, potential legal issues and potential opportunities.
- Resolves operational-level legal disputes.
- Leads a team of supervisors and staff with clearly defined responsibilities covering all aspects of the operation
- Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the work force.
- Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors and equipment division to resolve construction issues and improve construction methods.
- Promotes project stewardship and customer satisfaction
- Prepares staff development and succession plans for key positions
- Establishes and maintains relationships with clients, subcontractors, unions
- Ensures that all activity in the designated regions is consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies and procedures.
- Ensures all project reporting is accurate and timely
- Demonstrates commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins

**What you bring to the team**:

- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or equivalent discipline
- Can demonstrate a firm knowledge of commercial / industrial construction methods, building systems, and terminology
- A minimum of 5 years of construction management experience.
- General understanding of water & wastewater treatment processes
