**What can I expect to do in this role?**: You will:

- provide seasonal leadership of the collection, analysis and interpretation of water quality data from streams and lakes including nearshore waters of the Great Lakes
- supervise and carry out field operations for the investigation of biological, water, sediment and effluent conditions
- investigate environmental conditions, assess the impact of contaminant discharges and assess the effectiveness of environmental control measures.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:
**Knowledge**:

- theoretical knowledge of aquatic biology and aquatic chemistry,
- experience with technical/specialized water sampling methodologies, data collection procedures, proper handling of samples, and technical reporting standards,
- applied knowledge of water, sediment and benthic macroinvertebrate collection equipment, limnological sampling equipment and methodological and hydrologic equipment

**Analytical and Problem-solving skills**:

- proven ability to design and conduct analysis/research of water quality/surveillance projects
- problem-solving skills to develop and test novel field methodologies and techniques, perform data quality checks/edits, conduct general troubleshooting and propose solutions

**Project management, Communication and Leadership skills**:

- demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and lead water quality monitoring and research projects, coordinate activities with partners and lead a team of crew staff
- communication skills to present/discuss technical information and ideas, provide expertise, write technical reports and make presentations

**Computer proficiency**:

- proficiency with database management, statistical, word processing, and graphics software to: develop and maintain databases, ensure data quality, produce analyses and prepare reports on findings.
