Position title: Operations Manager (Edmonton)
PlantForever is a non-profit organization in Edmonton. We plant trees in cities to mitigate the climate crisis. We are recruiting for an Operations Manager that will manage tree-planting events. This is a fantastic opportunity to capture management experience at a nonprofit
It is a part-time volunteer position (as with all positions on our team) that is oriented towards the summer. It has an approximate weekly commitment of 3-8 hours during the summer and 0-1 during the winter.
**Benefits of Joining Operations and PlantForever**
- Undertaking an executive role as a Manager yields phenomenal, hands-on experience—you get to enter a high-level position in an established organization. These roles especially provide management/leadership and entrepreneurship experience for those seeking to build related skills.
- Operations at PlantForever allows you to directly impact the Edmonton community and our planet by leading an on-the-grounds initiative to mitigate the climate crisis.
- As an executive team member, you are encouraged to express your perspectives on all aspects of the organization.
- As a PlantForever team member, you would have a highly flexible work schedule. There are generally no specific times that are required for work, so team members can contribute according to their own schedule. Moreover, all work within the organization is part-time and oriented towards the summer season. Team members are free to take breaks when sought. For instance, all of our current team members take breaks during their exams.
- PlantForever team members have a strong say in how they work and what they work on, allowing them to operate in ways that maximize their skills, experience, and contribution.
- You can become involved with a local community of volunteers, and by joining the PlantForever team, you can become involved with a group of like-minded youth.
**Learning Opportunities**
- Learn how to manage events
- Collaborate with the Operations team and lead volunteers
- Capture first-hand entrepreneurship experience
- Collaborate with the executive team and understand aspects of marketing, finance, communications, and more
- Express your ideas concerning organization vision, policies, and services.
**Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with the VP Operations and other Operations Managers to coordinate transplanting events, where trees are moved into pots
- Collaborate with the VP Operations and other Operations Managers to organize tree-planting events: confirming times/order with homeowners, planning the event, executing the event, and leading volunteers
- Lead volunteers
- Collaborate with the executive team
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: $1.00 per year
Expected hours: 3 - 8 per week
Application question(s):
- This position requires using a vehicle to transport trees and volunteers. Do you have a valid driver's license and a vehicle to use for tree-planting events?
