**Volunteer & Communications Coordinator Job Description**

**Purpose**

The Volunteer & Communications Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all volunteer needs are met within the organization, and all volunteer-related activities and information are looked after in detail. Additionally, this role will handle communications efforts to enhance community engagement and organizational visibility.

The Volunteer & Communications Coordinator is a 10 month maternity leave part-time position up to a maximum of 25 hours per week contracted, with the likelihood of extra hours being required during high season, such as events and festivals. Evenings and weekends are required.

**Accountability**

The Volunteer & Communications Coordinator will report to the Arts on the Ave Executive Director.

**Responsibilities**:

- Holistic approach to all Arts on the Ave’s volunteer needs, for The Carrot, Special Events, Festivals, and other areas as required.
- Recruit, train, retain and celebrate volunteers for all Arts on the Ave projects, initiatives and festivals.
- Volunteer Care.
- Attend monthly Carrot Committee meetings.
- Have a valid driver’s license, and own a reliable vehicle.
- Other volunteer-related duties as required.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance community engagement and organizational visibility.
- Support social media accounts, ensuring consistent and engaging content.
- Create and distribute org newsletter, press releases, and other communication materials.
- Collaborate with team members to gather stories, photos, and updates to share with the community.
- Monitor communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategies and make adjustments as needed.

**What you bring to Our Team**
- Have 2+ years of volunteer leadership, development, and coordination experience.
- Have experience in community development, including facilitating community-based events.
- A diploma in community development, arts and cultural management, volunteer management, human services field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with city core neighbourhoods and indigenous communities.
- Ability to recognize and celebrate success; help address challenges and barriers that city core communities face.
- Extremely organized, able to work in a fast-paced non-profit environment that is constantly on the move, and fulfilled by helping make the magic happen.
- Fully computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite.
- Experience with Adobe and Basecamp software is an asset.
- Better Impact literacy required; training provided.
- Ability to travel to and from work, different sites, and offsite pick-ups as required.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
