Are you a collaborative problem-solver seeking opportunity to shape Alberta’s workforce?
We are looking for a dynamic self starter with workforce expertise in Alberta’s Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Biotech/Pharmaceutical sectors.

As part of the Industry Workforce Partnerships team and reporting to the Director of Industry and Investor supports, you use your political savvy and sector expertise to provide leadership and coordination on workforce development within the Department, across government and throughout the province.

You perform dynamic and complex work within defined and often constrained timelines. You deliver sector-specific workforce development programs and activities to enhance Alberta’s competitiveness and support workforce participation, economic growth, and job creation.

You are a strong communicator who functions independently with mínimal supervision and works well within diverse teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Building networks of contacts across assigned sectors.
- Collaborating with sector stakeholders to address workforce challenges.
- Managing grants to support sector-led projects.
- Using labour market information to inform the work of the Department.
- Developing and updating Talent Action Plans; strategic tools that establish work priorities and guide stakeholder outreach.
- Supporting special projects and cross-ministry working groups.
- Preparing reports and providing advice to high levels of government.

This role uses the Workforce Partnerships Program to provide advice and support to sector stakeholders in developing and implementing provincial initiatives that will advance the sector’s workforce planning. The IWPS assesses Manufacturing,
Forestry and Public Administration workforce development issues and trends, identifying and creating strategic opportunities, activities and projects based on sector planning. The IWPS develops targeted Talent Action Plans by
conducting research and gathering labour market information from stakeholders that takes into account domestic and international sector developments, sector policies and practices, legislation and initiatives by other orders of government

The work required to achieve results is complex and affected significantly by industry trends, economic fluctuations, multiple stakeholders, and priorities established in the Government and Ministry Business Plans. The IWPS works within the context of existing legislation, budgets, provincial priorities and Ministry processes and strategies. The IWPS also reviews and provides input and ideas on workforce development to other levels of government and stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Recruitment Standard**: University graduation in a related field plus 6 years in the Manufacturing, Forestry, Public Administration, Workforce Development or related employment.

**Equivalency**: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

**Assets**:

- Working knowledge and experience including workforce planning and development, domestic and international sector developments, sector policies and practices, applicable legislation (i.e. Employment Standards, OHS and Labour Relations) and initiatives by other orders of government and industry.
- Experience working with employers, non-profits and industry associations and with networking with external government stakeholders on collaborative projects.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s professional and trade associations.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Alberta economy.
- Ability to complete environmental scans.
- Extensive knowledge of Alberta workforce trends and key labour markets and labour pools.
- In-depth understanding of sector workforce challenges.
- Knowledge of government policies and programs, both at the provincial and federal level.
- Understanding of Alberta government decision-making processes, policy directions, immigration priorities and departmental responsibilities.
- Understanding of policy and program development processes.
- Experience with grant management, policies and procedures
