**About the Unit**:
The Manager, Environment is responsible for further developing and leading a comprehensive environmental management program across the North American business unit. This position will oversee such program and provide technical environmental expertise in the execution of regulatory strategy at local and federal levels within the unit, in alignment with the overall strategy and objectives of Yara North America (YNA).

In addition to ensuring environmental compliance and execution of overall environmental strategy, this person will identify, analyze, and anticipate emerging local, provincial/state, and federal environmental regulatory trends that may impact the business. Assisting/supporting the YNA Regulatory & Government Affairs team with developing functional strategies around regulatory advocacy plans and public policy positions is also a key element of this position.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead environmental program management across all North American facilities, in collaboration with local teams. This includes strategic program development, ensuring overall environmental regulatory compliance, conducting environmental site investigations and inspections, identifying permitting provisions for projects, and implementation of best-in-class industry practices.
- Support local teams with day-to-day compliance with all environmental regulatory permits and licenses at YNA owned and operated sites, including but not limited to process and/or stormwater, air emissions as well as developing strategies to prevent and/or minimize historical impacts to soil and groundwater.
- Support all North American business M&A and disposition environmental due diligence needs and formulating recommendations based on scientific data.
- Manage environmental legacy cleanup projects resulting from historical operations in close coordination with YNA Legal team, including ongoing legacy impacts and the closure of YNA and JV sites.
- Assist/support the YNA Regulatory & Government Affairs team on any federal and state/provincial environmental-related regulatory issues impacting Yara’s business in US and Canada. This includes emerging positions around carbon strategy and legislation in countries.
- Interpret complex regulations and ensure timely reporting of environmental issues.
- Communicate to government agencies and/or other stakeholders on any complaints or any environmental topics.
- Identify and anticipate upcoming environmental risks for YNA, in a proactive and continuous improvement manner.
- Work with other Yara departments/teams to achieve environmental targets.
- Provide guidance on the development and implementation of an environmental program while being sensitive to impacts to site operations and costs, while taking a collaborative approach to executing the environmental management program in YNA.

**Profile**:

- Degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, geology/hydrology, or related area. Extensive industrial experience in lieu of will also be considered. Professional certification related to the environmental field.
- Sound knowledge of state/provincial and federal environmental legislation in either US or Canada (both preferred).
- Experience and/or knowledge in a fertilizer production is an advantage.
- Direct experience and/or working knowledge of environmental assessments and remediation pertaining to soil and groundwater is required with preference to having demonstrated the ability to effectively manage complex environmental projects.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Well-developed organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
- Experience delivering presentations to internal and external parties at all levels.

**Additional Information**:
Must be a citizen or permanent resident of either U.S. (if based in U.S.) or Canada (if based in Canada), with the ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25%. U.S. or Canadian passport required.
