**Child Protection Worker EDI Focus (B Role) - Child Protection Services**

**Temporary 12 months - Full Time Opportunity**

NOTE: For the purpose of this posting, the primary function of the vacant position has been identified. The scope of work for positions identified as A, B, or C requires flexibility between the roles. Case assignment will be based on operational requirements and determined by the supervisor.

**The Position**:

The Child Protection Worker - EDI Focus provides protection services to families and children within Ministry standards, established procedural guidelines, and time frames as provided by both the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and the Society’s policies and procedures. The Child Protection Worker - EDI focus reports to the Manager, Services - EDI focus.
-The Child Protection Worker-EDI Focus works flexible hours to respond to and/or meet the clients needs and the Society's organizational requirements. The Child Protection Worker - EDI Focus will only carry a limited number of Child in Care files.
-The Child Protection Worker - EDI Focus is responsible for supporting the delivery of anti-oppressive/anti-racist and equity informed services to CAS-O clients and promoting CAS-O’s commitment to equity informed approaches to child welfare services provided to the community.

The Child Protection Worker - EDI Focus works co-operatively across departmental areas to ensure the best services are available for children, youth, and families and provides direct support to all aspects of the Society’s work.

**Qualifications**:

- BSW, MSW or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with relevant work experience;
- 2 years’ experience working with children and families;
- Experience working in a VAW setting is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of the community resources and services;
- Knowledge of VAW issues as they relate to the role of a child protection worker;
- Ability to collaborate with VAW workers, facilitating good working relationships within the Society and the Community;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by people related to gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation faced within the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by Indigenous peoples and racialized communities.
- Applies anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-colonialism, anti-heterosexism and anti-cissexism lenses to social problems
- Superior verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
