Job Title**:Territory Manager (Contract-Maternity Leave)**
**What you need to be successful**:
- Drives in-store sales in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing teams’ goals.
- Ensures 100% compliance with promotional displays at major home center retail partners.
- Uses fact-based selling and marketing techniques to influence the assignment of incremental display space for Scotts brands at major home center retail partners.
- Builds effective relationships internally and externally (Store Managers to Store Associates).
- Effectively presents sales opportunities and executes sales plans with store management.
- Provides business line reviews to stores within territory.
- Provides product knowledge and education to customers and stores.
**Administration**:
- Completes all administrative paperwork within required deadlines.
- Complies with all Company policies, procedures and practices including Health & Safety.
**Team Leadership**:
- Communicates Company Mission, Vision Statement, Strategies, etc., and models cultural attributes.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems to determine resolution.
- Recruits, interviews, and manages seasonal direct reports.
- Trains and support direct reports.
- Conducts team meetings as required.
- Manages territory budget.
**Job Specifications**: (Minimum Requirements)
Skill Factors (education, experience, communication, technical, etc.)
- Post-secondary Education OR equivalent field sales experience.
- Two-years territory field sales and merchandising experience.
- One year supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to negotiate.
- Excellent sales presentation skills.
**Effort Factors**: (physical and mental demands)
- Ability to routinely walk, stand, climb a step grip ladder up to 4m (12ft), handle some heavy lifting, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Effective time management - ability to manage self, time and priorities.
**Work Conditions**:
- Work the standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week; however, job requirements will include additional and/or extended work time, weekend work as the business dictates especially during peak season.
- Effective handling of stress/pressure when completing large workload within a compressed time frame
- Some overnight travel may be required.
- Works in “big box” retail stores with natural and artificial light exposure; forklifts and/or similar machinery.
- Exposed to changes in temperature and humidity including indoor/outdoor working conditions.
**Other**:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Be willing to submit to background screening, which may include, but is not limited to the following: Criminal Check, and Driver’s Abstract.
