Manitoba Environment and Climate Change is seeking qualified individuals to fill a Regional Supervisor (EO4) position, located in Winnipeg, MB. Conditions of Employment:

- Must possess and maintain a valid, full-stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must be willing and able to travel, with occasional overnight stays as required.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, such as site inspections and investigations.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post Secondary education in the environmental sciences or a related discipline with relevant work experience in an environmental field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and extensive experience may be considered.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and providing regulatory interpretation, including environmental legislation in Manitoba and Canada, with specific and detailed knowledge of The Environment Act, The Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, The Contaminated Sites Remediation Act, and The Waste Reduction and Prevention Act.
- Experience providing leadership and direction through the administration, compliance, and enforcement of environmental programs. This includes the evaluation and analysis of scientific data and reports, as well as the review and assessment of technical documents.
- Experience in the enforcement of regulations, including field inspections, investigations, collecting samples, preparing court briefs, and providing testimony under oath.
- Strong verbal communication skills, including explaining complex concepts to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Strong written communication skills, including experience producing authority-seeking documents, briefing notes, and issue papers.
- Strong leadership skills, with human resource management experience such as supervision, coaching, training, managing employee performance, and recruitment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated through effective mediation, conflict resolution and problem-solving while fostering diversity and collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills and experience in working under pressure, managing multiple priorities in tight timeframes on confidential, complex, and sensitive issues.
- Demonstrate political acumen, including the ability to manage confidential, controversial or politically sensitive material and situations appropriately.
Desired:
- Experience and knowledge related to departmental policy and operational guidelines.
**Duties**:
Reporting to the Provincial Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the supervision of the planning, delivery, evaluation, reporting and administration of environmental management programs in the Portage and Interlake Regional Offices. This position supervises Environment Officers and other staff in the administration and enforcement of the Environment Act, Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, Contaminated Sites Remediation Act, Ozone Depleting Substances Act, and other related legislation or policies overseen by the department.
