Due to our growth, we are looking to fill a newly created position of Corporate Health & Safety Officer.

**JOB OVERVIEW**

Health & Safety Officer

In-Person/Full-Time

Location: 13 Jutland Road, Etobicoke, ON

**JOB SUMMARY**

Macdero Construction is seeking a competent and motivated individual to join our team as an in-person, full-time, company-wide Health & Safety Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting Macdero’s existing Health and Safety program as well as managing the administration of COR enrollment/accreditation.

The new team member would be based out of our head office in Etobicoke and be prepared to travel on a daily/weekly basis, as required, to multiple jobsites primarily throughout the GTA and outlying areas.

**KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work closely with other Macdero team members (administrators, project managers, superintendents, coordinators) to facilitate and maintain H&S training programs, as required, including new employee orientation and training arrangements
- Manage our BIS H&S software platform, including tracking and arranging for updated training, as required
- Be the point person involved in administrating, documenting, and managing enrollment/accreditation in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance and compliance of requirements as pertaining to H&S initiatives, MOL investigations, site incident reporting, WSIB return to work plans, etc.
- Assist with on site toolbox talks, H&S informational awareness, and field level safety meetings with the General Superintendent and Site Supervisors
- Monitor and maintain required safety documentation being submitted by our subcontractors
- Provide guidance, support, and be an active member of the JHSC
- Investigate incidents, perform inspections, and complete related documentation
- Assist in compiling required H&S documents for tender Pre-Qualification submissions
- Assist in managing PPE selection, purchasing, and fit testing, as required
- Facilitate safety committee meetings, as required
- Other health and safety duties related as assigned, to ensure compliance, etc.

**KEY QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL REQUIREMENTS**
- 2 to 3 years working experience within a similar role related to H&S for a construction company in Ontario
- Post-Secondary diploma/degree from accredited institution
- Valid G driver’s licence
- Previous experience working through COR enrollment/accreditation
- Working knowledge of OHSA and associated regulations
- Strong computer skills using the MS Office program suite
- Organized and resourceful individual able to work well individually or with a team
- Professional demeanor, attention to detail, deadline-oriented, time management skills
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with administrators, project managers, site crew members, subcontractors, and all team members
- Reliable, responsible, and motivated with good oral and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
