**ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.**

**Summary of Job Functions**

ACSA is currently seeking a Provincial Youth Outreach Worker (YOW). As part of a city-wide strategy, the YOW role is to engage marginalized youth and provide case management supports that will ensure youth are connected to identified services and supports. The YOW will provide a range of outreach services to at-risk youth, families and groups in the Steeles L’Amoreaux area, serving to enhance or maintain youth functioning in the community. This position carries responsibility for prevention, early intervention, program development and community outreach services with youth and families. The YOW will be a highly motived, innovative, creative and skilled individual who works well within a multi-disciplinary outreach team.

**Duties include**:

- Engage at-risk youth from Steeles-L’Amoreaux in activities that promote assets, competencies and resiliency, including youth with disabilities, newcomer youth, and youth from diverse communities (racial, cultural, sexual orientation, etc.).
- Utilize a case management approach, develop effective service delivery plans that ensure that youth have access to programs, services and opportunities needed for healthy development.
- Meet quantitative targets set by the funder and complete program administrative duties as required, ensuring that documentation and service statistics on the Outreach Record (OR) and OCASI are completed.
- Develop a proactive positive relationships approach when connecting youth to referrals and support in the community and while planning, promoting and coordinating youth outreach services.
- Engage youth to identify issues, needs, goals aspirations, skills, abilities and services needed as well as barriers to accessing these services.
- Lead, develop, implement and participate in community outreach activities in the Glendower, Bay Mills and Chester Le neighbourhoods, as well as in any other identified target areas.
- Work collaboratively and coordinate services with youth and their ecosystem, which may include: parents, Health Promotion Officers, schools, police, and other service providers.
- Conduct environmental scans of neighbourhoods to identify and understand emerging service gaps and opportunities for action to build on community capacity.
- Engage parents/caregivers through current youth referrals, existing parent groups, faith communities, etc., and provide education and support on issues related to parenting, etc.
- Facilitate partnerships with community agencies, business, government and informal community groups to offer programs using arts, culture, civic engagement, and recreation.
- Organize and help deliver public education seminars, workshops, groups and training for youth, parents and service providers.
- Work in collaboration with other youth programs to support current youth work and services in the community while striving to implement further initiatives.
- Actively participate in team meetings, network meetings and partnership and collaboration opportunities, including the SLYE network tables, CLCC team meetings and Provincial YOW meetings.
- Help establish and maintain effective communication and positive relationships between youth, staff and others in the community.
- Provide services within an understanding of the context of oppression, poverty and diversity.
- Act as a mediator for staff or in co-operation with staff involved in potentially challenging youth related situations arising in programs or community.
- Provide other services and carry out other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Child and Youth Worker Diploma/Social Service Worker and 1 year of directly related experience; or related Bachelors’ Degree.
- Past experience working with high needs communities, highly disengaged youth, building, supporting and creating new and existing partnerships through ongoing engagement opportunities.
- Knowledge of the Stages of Change Framework and its use as a tool to support youth
- Understanding of the Steeles-L’Amoreaux neighbourhoods, clients, history and common knowledge of Toronto Community Housing.
