Momiji Health Care Society is a non-profit organization providing services to senior citizens of primarily Japanese-Canadian descent, in an effort to maximize their independence, health, and quality of life.

**Only Youth(aged 15-30) are eligible for this position**

**Start Date**:Interviews May 1st to May 5th, Mandatory Orientation May 16th

**Position Summary**:
A hands on experience and skills development for a youth job applicant working as a Community Services Outreach Assistant. To assist with development and promotion of Community Programs the youth will be provided with the opportunity for a meaningful and supportive, productive and valuable work hands-on experience through the Community and Volunteer Services.

Under the supervision of Manager of Community and Volunteer Services, the Community Services Outreach Assistant summer youth employee will engage in various Community Services initiatives, may include planning activities, events and programs. Assist with the administration and coordination of community programs, including promotion of community congregate dining, friendly visits to seniors, volunteer opportunities, and assist with volunteer recruitment, orientation, trainings and volunteer appreciation.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Liaise with Community Services programs, event participants & volunteers.
- Coordinate and create community promotional material including group or corporate or group sponsorship opportunities.
- Create and increase engagement and participation of the seniors in the community.
- Help organize and maintain office systems and files /general administrative duties as needed.
- Participation in planning, staff meetings, organizational tasks, and other tasks as required.

**General Duties for all Summer Positions**:

- Participate in other duties as directed by supervisor
- Attend staff or committee meetings as assigned
- Some light lifting or physical activity may be required

**Preferred Education or Employment Background**:

- Currently enrolled in post-secondary program in Volunteer Management, Community Development, Education, Social Work, or related fields in a recognized University/College
- Enthusiastic team player with good communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, are essential
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office are required to assist with tasks
- Knowledge and understanding of Japanese Canadian culture is an asset
