**General Sales Manager**
Chalmers Suspension International Inc. is a North-American company proudly serving the heavy-duty truck industry for over 30 years. We manufacture truck suspensions that meet the industry need for a unique suspension system with characteristics designed to provide excellent performance and value.
We are currently looking for a General Sales Manager to join our team.
**Job Summary**:
The primary responsibility of the General Sales Manager is to lead the sales team in achieving financial goals and managing the overall sales process. He/She will be responsible for developing and implementing a sales strategy to increase sales through new business acquisition and retention. The General Sales Manager will also be responsible for managing the overall sales process and accountable for all aspects of the sales process including:
1. Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the heavy-duty truck suspension manufacturing company, aligned with the overall business objectives. Define target markets, set ambitious sales targets, and create sales plans to drive revenue growth.
2. Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing sales team focused on selling heavy-duty truck suspension products. Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure the team meets or exceeds sales goals. Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment.
3. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and clients in the heavy-duty truck industry. Understand their needs, provide technical expertise, and deliver exceptional customer service. Identify opportunities to expand the customer base and enhance customer loyalty.
4. Sales Performance Analysis: Track and analyze sales performance metrics, such as conversion rates, average order value, and market share. Utilize data-driven insights to identify sales trends, areas for improvement, and growth opportunities. Implement strategies to optimize sales performance.
5. Collaboration with Other Departments: Collaborate closely with other departments, such as engineering, customer service, quality and manufacturing, to ensure alignment and coordination of sales efforts. Provide feedback on market needs and trends to support product development initiatives.
6. Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Stay current with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape in the heavy-duty truck suspension sector. Conduct market research to identify customer needs, assess market opportunities, and recommend strategies to stay ahead of competitors.
7. Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide regular sales reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators, market insights, and progress towards sales targets—present findings and recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
8. Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage the sales department budget, optimizing resource allocation to achieve sales objectives. Control expenses while ensuring adequate resources are available to support sales activities effectively.
9. Industry Networking: Represent the heavy-duty truck suspension manufacturing company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as truck manufacturers, distributors, and industry influencers.
**Job Requirements**:
- Proven track record in sales management, preferably within the heavy-duty truck industry or related automotive sector.
- In-depth knowledge of heavy-duty truck suspension products, market dynamics, and customer preferences.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen to develop effective sales strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field (a master's degree may be preferred).
- Previous experience working for a heavy-duty truck suspension manufacturing company or related industry is highly desirable.
The General Sales manager will report directly to the General Manager of Chalmers Suspensions.
