**Duties**:
Industrial Relations Officers (IROs) play an active role in helping parties settle their disputes through mediation and other positive approaches to dispute resolution.

**Work environment**:
As part of the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada, the Canada Industrial Relations Board Secretariat comprises a team of dynamic, result-oriented professionals with an overall knowledge of a majority of the remedies provided under the Canada Labour Code and other relevant legislation. We provide impartial dispute resolution services and ensure that cases are handled appropriately. ‍

Excellent communicators who can explain complex concepts accurately, simply and succinctly through discussions with parties, both experienced and unexperienced, facing significant labour relations conflicts.

**Intent of the process**:
The intent of this advertisement is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis.

A partially assessed pool will be created and may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various linguistic requirements, tenures, locations or security clearances within the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC).

Essential Qualifications
(You must meet ALL of these criteria to be considered for a position)

**Education**:
ED1 Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with a specialization in industrial relations, labour relations, law or other specialty relevant to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

**Experience**:
EX1 Experience in the field of labour relations, including the mediation, negotiation or the investigation of various types of complaints and/or labour relations disputes.

Asset qualifications
(Nice to have, but not essential for the position)

**Education**:
AED1 Successful completion of a course(s) in Alternate Dispute Resolution or in Mediation (at least 30 hours of instruction).

**Experience**:
AEX1 Experience performing the duties of a neutral third party or as a mediator in matters related to labour relations.
AEX2 Experience working for an administrative tribunal.
